How are they doing? My understanding is they didn’t suffer the winter kill other areas did?

They suffered along the river and surrounding area…disease of some sort said one game officer. Blue tongue? Anyway glassed for 6 days and found 80-120 does and 3 mature bucks…these bucks weren’t even on public…saw two guys with 3x3 bucks 2-3 year old deer

It has definitely gone downhill as far as quantity and quality the last 5 years. I think disease may be part of it, but I think the local populations growing combined with a bad winter or disease is what has hurt the area. Not just one factor.

Hunted there a couple years back.

It was rough, guys that we saw being successful were doing deer drives.

Which, we weren’t going to partake in.

Age class is wrecked from unit 39 east to be clear I had multiple friends with 52 draw tags last year and no one saw anything that great. That is a lower elevation winter range unit with ussually big resident deer.
