Wyoming Points Question

My guess is your group was just one of the lucky ones assigned a lower number? Sounds like it will take 2 or 3 points in the regular draw and 1 point in the special draw.

We drew with 2 points in a general area rifle tag in Wyoming this past year. For whatever that's worth.

97% of people with 1 point in special drew the general tag in 2018 so there is still a chance you might not draw.

Montana does party applications. Had a friend last year with 3 points that didn't draw general in WY, that wasn't special though.

There was an error with his application or he didn't choose a general tag as his first choice. As noted below, 100% of people with 2.1667 points or above drew general tag as a first choice.

if memory serves the odds of drawing with 2 pts. for the general area were 100% if listed as a 1st choice. That's how we entered it and it worked. I'm no expert though nor do I recall what I had for lunch Monday so ......

That's the whole discussion the odds listed were 100% but only those with greater than 2 (2.1) truly had those 100% odds. So congratulations you guys beat the odds and drew with 2 points.
The point is no one knows what it'll take because people are dropping out with higher points driving the general tag up.

Correct, this stuff is all there and available free of charge on WY GFD website. This in year it'll prob take about 2.5 points for a gen tag and it'll take about 3 2020.

Man, we're entering into a statistics discussion on an elk hunting forum. What if everyone just entered, they picked the allotment of tags for non res and res and voila, go hunting to the folks that were picked. To the folks that weren't, there's always next year.
