Wyoming Points Question

If I bought a point this year, am I going into the draw with that one point next year? Or does it count as two since I bought a point and applied in 2019?

It is Wyoming so its going to be 2 "when you don't" draw.

Not necessarily. The odds for the special draw have changed quite a bit over the past couple of seasons. Little bit better odds than throwing in for the regular draw, but not a gimme anymore. Have you checked the odds on GoHunt or the Wyo fish and game page?

I've been using GoHunt, and they list a lot of the units at 100%. That's general units. I was basing my planning for next year on this, but I was reading an article somewhere that said this wasn't always the case so trying to figure out if I screwed this up or not. Really trying to pull off a rifle hunt for 5 guys. Would try for MT too, but not sure if you can apply as a party there.

You applying for a particular area in Wyoming? Or just a general unit rifle tag? General unit looks like it was 100% this year in special, but less than 1 was 82% and 0 points was 30%. Does everyone in the group have points? I've got 3 going into this coming year, but not sure if everyone is on board with hunting this year or waiting.

We all have points and we're looking at general unit tags. I've spent the last three years bowhunting OTC in CO and I've decided to hang up the bow for a rifle. Was hoping the cost factor in WY might up the odds a bit even though it's general units.

Montana does party applications. Had a friend last year with 3 points that didn't draw general in WY, that wasn't special though.

You can look on their website and get the draw stats for both special and regular in general and limited units.

Pretty sure you needed greater than 2 or maybe 3 points for the General this year. We used 3 to get it this year. Maybe the price jump will lower the points needed.

Bob do they average it out exactly when giving preference in the > pools. I'd always thought that everyone in a specific > pool was accounted the same until the next whole number.

There is no < or > pool, that's just report formatting so the report isn't a mile long. They round to 4 decimal places.

We drew with 2 points in a general area rifle tag in Wyoming this past year. For whatever that's worth.
