Myself and two buddies are looking for a Wyoming Outfitter, potentially for 2026 or 2027. I'm 70, with reasonable mobility, while one friend is a year older and limited mobility. We would have a combined average of 11 preference points, and I've identified units that are within our point range and have reasonable terrain, most of which are primarily private land. Limited tag units or general could work if they had what we were looking for.

My question is how to figure out which outfitters operate in the particular units we are looking at? I've looked at the Wyoming Guide Association site and unless I'm missing something, it just lists those that operate in a particular region. Is there any way to narrow down guides in particular units, or is it simply start dialing and asking them all? There are a couple of units in particular that I'm interested in, but so far haven't figured out who to call. I'll refrain from posting the unit numbers here.

Thanks for any suggestions you might have.

Frankly I've found info on outfitters by just Googling "Wyoming outfitters in elk area #. or by Region.
Some counties will have a Chamber of Commerce that lists outfitters and guides.
GWs will know who operated where also, email them.

Keep in mind ranchers, LOs ,can outfit their deeded or leased lands without an outfitter license so the Outfitters Ass. will not have info on all of them.

I did try your first suggestion, but Google didn't seem very accurate. When I looked up the suggested outfitters app but one listed units other than the one I was interested in.
But your other suggestions are good ones, and I'll give those a try. I especially like the idea of finding a landowner that outfits on his own land. Thanks

Yep if you can find a LO that outfits and is not a member of WYOGA go for it. Many do not like the rules the ASS. has put in place.

Again email the GW or talk with them after this season when they are not so busy.

Go tot he State of Wyoming website. Then get to the Outfitters and Guides website. Give them a call. I'm not sure, but they may have the list of which outfitters are permitted in which unit.
