Looking to do cow hunt with my boys this year. Hunted General tag in Wyoming 2 yrs ago and didn’t draw this year. Looking at Type 6 reduced cow tags and looking for advice and areas to hunt. Right now looking into Unit 7 and around Units around the Bighorns. I’m not afraid to ask permission but wondering how difficult that is to get. Also best time to go - tag goes from Oct 15-Dec 31st. I know national forest is off limits and remaining tags all are limited public area units. Any advice or areas would be greatly appreciated.

It seems like you are mixing part of the type 6 and type 8 regulations.

I have a type 6 and expect it to be busy.

As stated above, there are no remaining type 6 for unit 7.

Yes I see that now for Unit 7. Still interested in Type 6 in units like 34 -35

If you have time and money to spare, you could give it a try.

At worst, you'll see another part of the state and meet some nice folks but never take your gun out of the case.

At best, you'll find some access and get to hunt.

The odds are much more likely that it will be the former instead of the latter...

Read the regs on those licenses, major restrictions on access, no NF hunting.
If cow tags are left over probably because access is an issue.

Yes I understand the access issues and difficulties of the tags. That’s why the tags are still available. Talking to COs out there too.
