Hey all, lost time reader, new poster. I’m looking to go on a mile deer hunt soon. I’m in between Idaho, Colorado, and Wyoming. Idaho is the farthest, seems the hardest to hunt, but easiest tags. Colorado seems to be a good option, but their website confuses me and I can’t find great info on easy to draw units that I can hunt. Wyoming would be my first choice (near the Bighorns) but I’ve heard populations in WY were down. How are the deer numbers? By no means am I looking for monsters, just a decent muley. I’d love the traditional, sit on a ridge, glass, and stalk type of hunt. Any input on states, habitat, etc to hunt is appreciated.

You should look over the Wyoming deer surveys. They call them "Job Completion Reports."

Will do. I’ve been on both ends of those surveys, and I know sometimes surveys are representative of actual huntable populations. Also, I don’t have a great drone of reference, so reportedly low numbers could still be very huntable, or vice versa.
