I have 3 points for Wyoming. Looking for a little direction on decent units. I am in Oregon and lots of scouting will be difficult any help is appreciated.

Well you are a long day(or an evening and a morning) drive away. If you can put together 4 days you could scout it real well with 2 full days in the back country getting to know the lay of the land, and ground truth your maps.

Any region tag in the Western part of WY would put you in good deer country. In the absence of ANY boots on the ground scouting, arrive 2 days before the season and be willing to be flexible.

I'll be headed to region H this September, have 3 points as well. Hoping to fly out to scout a couple days in late July or early August.

Also, with 3 points, I'm not sure you'd be able to draw region G.

I need to look up about the points because i was going to recommend region G because of the 3 points. I have never hunted G but my buddies like it. I have hunted H twice and drew it this past season with zero points. Didnt even realize i was that lucky.

Did you do the special draw or regular? AKA was your tag in the $500 (special draw) or $300 range (normal draw) being a non-res? Just curious...

At any rate an H tag with 0 points is pretty sweet:D

It was special draw. I originally was not supposed to be able to go on the trip so i didnt buy the point. Things changed over the course of the year so i put in for it because i had friends going.

Last year Region G took a fraction more than 4PPs for a 100% draw in the regular draw and 3PPs wasn't quite 100% even in the special draw. It's doubtful that 2015 will be less than that.

If you can draw H as a non res go for it. Everyone is so stuck on the G units. I hunt them every couple years or right on the border at least, but H is the area I hunt most. I see way more deer in H for sure and about half the hunters also. I killed 3 good bucks in the last 4 years there between 173 and 187" and only one of those was in the wilderness. Its a great area just needs to have some limited hunting soon!
