Negative. It took 2 points in 2018. I know , because thats the last damn time ive been able to draw a tag on first draw in Wyoming.

1 point was 97%, <2 was 100%

I do agree with @fatlander that the general has gone up, but the lower point limited entry units have only experienced mild point creep. Even the ones without wilderness.

In 2017, one point wasnt successful for me even in the special draw. Took 2 in special to draw it in 2018. Thats the last time i wasted money for special though.

1 point was 97%. You just got unlucky.

This still applies imo. 90/10 hasn't passed but the special increase will have a similar effect. For someone starting out right now, they need to plan on 8-10 years in the regular draw.

OP - what is your home state? There is a good chance WY would NOT be a state I would recommend for you.
It will be alot more than 4-5 years for a WY GEN elk tag by the time you climb the ladder. When you look at the charts, remember that all the other applicants are climbing that ladder WITH you.

Man, if transferring points was an option, everyone in my family would be building points! I'd be reaching out to cousins that I hadn't talked to in years! lol.

I measured it myself, so take that with a grain of salt. I would give a +/-5 inches of user error to the official score of 78".

I heard that too. I asked the guy I went with if they got hit hard by the winter. He said they faired a lot better than southern WY. He is in more central WY.

I have purchased my first WY elk point last year (2023) and plan to buy my 2nd this year

This! Said differently, @Gerald Prescott - you may have to wait much longer than 4-5 years to hunt WY. I wouldn't heavily plan on anything until after 2029.

Or not if you get lucky in the random draw
