UPDATE: I could be misremembering the posts I saw were not residents but maybe non-residents with horses or whatever that were trading usage of their stock to get wilderness access.
I’ve seen here and on FB a few times where residents were looking to pair up with non-residents that are higher in points to take advantage of the averaging system with the mutually beneficial agreement to hunt together so the non-res can hunt wilderness areas.
Three of us in my group have 4 points and one has 3. We are probably hunting elsewhere in 2025 and probably need 5-6 points to be helpful anyway. However, wanted to see if anyone wanted to start discussing the potential of linking up down the road…probably for archery.
FYI, while there is four of us in the group, we usually take turns and only try to draw 1-2 tags per year so it’s not all four of us trying to get a tag. The others are there to help call and pack out. We are all in mid to late 30s. Good shape. Ready for backpack or truck camp. We are not partiers but also have no problem if someone wanted to have a couple drinks in the evening. 2025 will be our fifth season elk hunting.
Hit me up if we can help each other.
