hey guys planning on a 2018 archery elk hunt, first time elk hunter. looking at units 102,104 and 94. ive fished and backpacked around this area years ago and its really the only area in SW Wyoming im familiar with. between labarge and alpine cokeville and Kemmerer is where im most familiar with. bought a preference point last year and hope to draw a general tag, not sure how the whole process works. I have seen a few cows while trout fishing high mountain streams, but haven't been back there in 4-5 years. is this area worth going to? or should I forget about being familiar with this area and look elsewhere? any tips on a first timer in this area? everyone familiar with this area told me to hike a mile or two from the road but not much more than. any info is greatly appreciated.

I guess I haven't got a response because of the locations given, I should have just said what units I was interested in not exact locations. Just learning first post on here. If anyone is willing to help out a new guy let me know

Not familiar with those areas but there are going to be elk in them. If you have hiked, camped, and seen elk in them then a big part of your battle is already over. Knowing where to park, camp and access areas is a big deal when coming from far away. The elk will still be there.

thanks man appreciate the response, I wont have the time to scout it before hand so im just going to try the same areas and hike as much as possible and hopefully come across some fresh sign
