Wyo Elk + Fishing License

If you drew a full price elk tag in Wyoming you will also get a fishing license.

I just spoke with the WGF ( a few times actually) about the specifics of the fishing license.

I did get some inaccurate info from one office so I called the Laramie office and they were much more helpful. I asked a couple questions that were not addressed in the Regs and were unable to be answered until they went up the ladder. Expect more specific information regarding fishing licenses and elk tags in the future.

In essence, Fishing licenses are valid when you get your elk tag in the mail (and in your possession) and expire at season end date of your license. They are still valid even if you fill your tag.

Yes - this is correct.
Once you’re mailed the elk license, it will have the validated fishing license on it.
If you go fishing, take the elk license.

The fishing license expires when your elk season is over

Even though I never took advantage of it, I like when CO did the same. Gives you an option should you tag early and waiting on a buddy
