Ok- I looked around for chats on this and couldn't turn one up, so here we go.
I've got 7 WY Elk points that I'm looking to burn this year. I'm most likely going to be moving to WY in the not-too-distant future, so why not burn them? I'm leaning toward a Type 9 (Archery only) permit or possibly going with a General tag with an archery permit tacked on.

The Caveat: I have a friend who is a resident and will apply for his guide permit, so wilderness areas are a go. I was originally looking into some units bordering the Park (55, 51, and 60 to be specific); however, in the last few years I've just been putting away preference points and completely forgot about the massive price hike for the special draw, which was my ticket into those units. TBH I'm not really interested in forking up that much cash for a DIY archery hunt with a bunch of hungry griz all over. For that price I could fill 5 elk tags in Idaho with NO griz. SO I'm looking for other recommendations.

I'm open to anything at this point. However, if you have any logistical intel for unit 60, I'd be especially interested in that as I can still draw that as a type 9 in the regular draw. PM me or drop a comment.

*Don't need anyone to tell me how demanding the units are physically:) Not a particular concern for me.

What @CarterHunt said…. Stick with the general, leaves you a ton of options and even some wilderness areas to take advantage of with your resident friend and the option to come back with a rifle if archery doesn’t go your way. It’s what I’d do if I was looking to burn my points.
