I have some Bear Paw custom stuff, Aquaquest, Kammok, and the Nemo Scalar. I usually prefer the Nemo if it's just me and gear. All depends on what you need and what you wanna spend. I'm weird, but shelter and sleeping stuff I usually buy new lol. Another good option would be the Helikon-Tex Supertarp.
I second the aquaquest option. I’ve had one for years. A few spark holes but it’s stood up to a ton of abuse. I don’t use it as part of my sleep system anymore but it lives in my car campin kit. Saved our trip last weekend.
I do have a seek outside silex I’m tryin to get rid of. I know you’re not really lookin for a shaped “tarp tent”. But it’s available if you’re interested. Ide do a good price on it. No tears or rips good condition
I appreciate that, and like those…but I want it for a trip to NZ where we are renting a camper. Can’t make a usable awning off the camper van with anything other than flat tarp, at least I havent yet figured that out or id just take my durston X-mid 2 fly…I’m trying to avoid getting trapped in van due to rain … And also to carrry while out hiking around for quick shelter from elements.
Probably less than I think it is, but I like to think long term…I’d prefer light weight (for flights and packing around). Durability probably isn’t a huge issue as it shouldn’t see a lot of hard use. But I may be approaching this totally backward too…lol
I carry an Aquaquest Safari 20x13' for car camping, but I was thinking that a 10x13' might be ideal at about 2.2lbs. The Safari is mid-weight as far as durability, but a square tarp does lend itself to more configurations...
