I'm looking for a good hammock setup for archery elk.
Thanks and happy hunting

I've spent some high altitude nights in a Clark jungle hammock- tropical ultra. You definitely lose a little heat from being up off the ground but with a good pad and bag you'll be fine. Back will feel better in the morning too. Nice when you are hunting the mountains as you don't need level ground like you would with a tent.

I've got an Eno system with a fly I'd consider selling. Never really used it as I'm as side sleeper and it doesn't work well for me, but its so neat I've never wanted to sell. Not a clue what its even worth?

I have a nice little setup im looking to sell. I use it deer hunting the past two years and it has worked great. Very lightweight and packable kit.

Hammock: Butt in a Sling - Weight Weenie Micro with knotty mods (don't ask where they came up with these names)
Suspension: Whoopie slings, toggles, tree straps.
Tarp: Warbonnet Outdoors - Mamajamba - awesome tarp!

I'll ship it all to you for $100. I'll even include a great little hammock camping book called The Ultimate Hang.

I have 3 ENO double nests and one rainfly. They are nice. I wont use them elk hunting again tho. Froze my ass off most of 8 days!! by the time I haul an underblanket , rainfly and hammock , it weighs as much as my tent and bag almost. But for warmer weather hunts I love the hammock. Me and the kids use them regularly early season and in the summer.

Simply Light Designs.
Super light and simple. Very good quality and custom to what you want. I have 2 of their hammocks. Awesome products. I would definitely check them out.

I like the looks of warbonnet hammock and tarps. I'm really looking for a 4 season set up.
I use a Warbonnet blackbird xlc with a superfly tarp. Both awesome products. The superfly gives you great coverage from the elements, so really, the difference between 3 season and 4 season is your underquilt and topquilt. If it's really cold, some guys go with a pad and an underquilt. I also saw a post where someone modded a grizz beak to fit a stove that was pretty slick.

I haven't taken mine out of CA yet, so I don't know how cold I can go, but look forward to finding out.

I am 6'2" and 215 lbs The ultralite A-sym may be a little short for me.
Thanks Steve

Just curious...have you ever camped in a hammock? There are many types and some might make you feel a bit claustraphobic (the kind you enter from below) while others (like my Clark) allow you get cool breezes in warm weather while enjoying built in bug netting or can be completely sealed up for nature's worst. Here's the thing...even with a big tarp your gear is either on the ground under you or hanging in a tree. For hunting a tent is sometimes a better choice. There's a pretty significant learning curve to hammock camping, getting the hang just right and if you have little experience with a hammock you'll wanna play around with em before you enter the field. Be sure you get a big hammock and bigger tarp...I like the tarps that provide multiple configurations and use a black Mego Ogee.

I was out in a rippin' snowstorm that blew 20-40mph all day and night. I buttoned down the one side of the tarp facing the wind...

...but left the other side up so I could see out a bit.

I'm 6' and 235lbs so a bigger hammock suits me fine. Plus I really like the pockets in the Clark.

In rainy weather without wind I run my tarp higher up (usually my preference so I can stand under it...

...which still provides ample protection and keeps me dry. (Yup...the hammock is under there)

For very warm weather I use a small tarp with the ends flipped up to direct any breeze onto me in the hammock. Creates a slight cooling effect.

Like I said, there's a learning curve and there are times your best bet is this instead.

I have two hammocks that I use in the summer quite a bit. One is a grand trunk Skeeter beeter and one is an home made double layer hammock I traded for. The home made one is about a foot longer than the grand trunk and is more comfortable to me. I sleep better in a hammock than I do my own bed just can't convince the Mrs. To let me hang one in the house.
