Why wait a few minutes? I’m not a bow hunter, but if there was a hill, why not haul butt to get eyes on? Or were you in stand? Curious, since I don’t hunt with bows.
Fact is I'm sure they ran over the hill about 60yds and stopped because I heard then take off again after 10 minutes. Thinking I should have gone to their exit point to keep eyes on at least, might have had another shot.

I took a shot once in a brownie from a little further than I thought (rifle and this incident caused me to invest in range finder). I stayed in my hunting spot and observed the bear run for about 20 yards before I lost him. I waited a few minutes as well and never picked up any blood. Partner swears I hit him. We spent hours looking that day before dark set in and returned next day. Never found him. More experienced friend told me to always keep eyes on as long as you can. Also a 100 yard head start is easier to close than a 400 yard head start. Lol

Sorry you missed or lost. I’m sure you are applying lessons to it.
