So why is this being asked? You bought it to have disposable cash?

I’m an idiot that don’t buy bitcoin when it was $2k a coin. That was 10 years ago (I’m getting old and it wasn’t 10…it was 7 years ago).

Now I’m a little jealous, but not really.

If I had the stash, I’d not hesitate to cash out occasionally to afford things.

I have a great last minute deal on a Desert Bighorn sheep hunt (to complete my slam)

Only problem is funds are tight at the end of year. That said I luckily own some Bitcoin I stashed away for the very purpose to justify my hunting habit 😂

But as everyone with crypto knows it is a Bull market and still going up. HODL is pretty appropriate now! Depending what Trump does I may be able to buy multiple sheep hunts in 5 years with the same amount of BTC….

Would you sell BTC now for a sheep hunt in Feb?
I think BTC tops out in this run around 140k.

I would probably cash out, and start buying back in 27 in crypto winter.

I sold my Bitcoin about 9 years ago to buy a Winchester Model 70. I think I could pay off my mortgage with that now.

Yes, I think you should go sheep hunting with your Bitcoin.

Every single day, week, month, year I get more sore and crippled and to the best of my planning my financial situation always seems to get worse as life keeps happening.

If it seems something that really excites you do it.

My dads friend died the year he drew the best elk tag in the state.

His wife notified F&G and unfortunately we don’t have a reissue system.

Lots of good opinions, overall I am in a good financial position. Bitcoin was for extra cash, but now I can see its potential to be life changing….

The deal is with a very reputable outfitter I have hunted with before a couple times.

Price is in the low $50s. Not the biggest trophy area but 170” average rams.

Normal price is $65+ in this area. The better known trophy ranches and a chance at a 180” ram would be $75k+

I am in relatively good health at 48y. I should have time and health to hunt later, or on the flipside work a bit longer when I’m older to offset spent $ now…

10 years ago it was low $300s 🙈.
2017-18…my math ain’t working. But it seems that the price was $2200ish for a full one.

And it was increasing.

I remeber sitting with a friend trying into get me to invest. I’m like dude! I can buy 4 plane tickets for that price.

He’s like dude! My investment has already increased 10xs…

Sucks getting old. Moved to the location in 2015 (10 years ago) but this would have been our last year there because Tim moved there 17/18.

Live and learn.

If you hold on to it and make a ton of money then you could still buy a sheep hunt in a few years.
If you sell it and go on a sheep hunt, you can point to the sheep and said “yeah I bought some bitcoin and made enough to go sheep hunting”
Either way it is a win win. That being said, I would sell and go on the sheep hunt. Completing a sheep slam would be awesome, I think the chance at doing that is worth more than any monetary gain you will get.

Take it for what it’s worth, I am nowhere near the same place as you and I don’t get to make the decision. I think it’s pretty easy for everyone else to hop on here and say “yolo” “spend the money and just do it” which does have plenty of justification in its own right. BUT it’s not their money, or their future they are doing it with. To me if holding onto the bitcoin would result in the possibility of retiring at 55 instead of 62 then I would MOST CERTAINLY hold onto it. I’m that scenario you’re gaining 7 years of your life. Instead of a $50k 7 day hunt.

If it was about the desert Mexico experience, then you could get that on a Coues deer hunt for $6k.

To me, and I REALLY want to go sheep hunting, I would have a tough time with losing the possibility of an early retirement or he’ll even 5 badass hunts that would equal the same cost as a desert ram.

With that being said they aren’t getting cheaper. And if you don’t have a lot of points in AZ NV UT or CO you aren’t ever going to draw one.

Do you only have 1 bitcoin? If you have a few or several then cash out 1 and party. If you only have one bitcoin, then I’d maybe think about possible investments with the other 50k you’d have after paying for your hunt. Bitcoins are like 100k right now.
