I have a great last minute deal on a Desert Bighorn sheep hunt (to complete my slam)

Only problem is funds are tight at the end of year. That said I luckily own some Bitcoin I stashed away for the very purpose to justify my hunting habit 😂

But as everyone with crypto knows it is a Bull market and still going up. HODL is pretty appropriate now! Depending what Trump does I may be able to buy multiple sheep hunts in 5 years with the same amount of BTC….

Would you sell BTC now for a sheep hunt in Feb?

Would depend on the rest of my financials. If I was on track for my long term goals, and the bitcoin was “extra”…then sure. It’s all just a gamble at that point. Sheep hunts aren’t getting any cheaper. Bitcoin will probably keep going up. Unless it doesn’t

Mission accomplished, go hunting. Don't wait until BTC tanks, you're to old, god forbid disabled due to an injury or illness.

I don't know a single person who regrets hunting versus waiting, I know plenty of people who either aged out or mismanaged their life and couldn't live out their dreams due to waiting or procrastinating. The quality isn't getting better, it's never getting cheaper and none of us are getting younger.

100%. Good deals on desert sheep hunts are few and far between. You can start building back up your BTC holdings over the next 12-24 months.

Thought better of it so deleted. But IYKYK
I don’t know who FAAFO is?

But I assume they may be referring to my son who shot a sub-legal Ram in 2023 on the youth hunt? It’s public information with the court fine. It’s unfortunate of course and a mistake was made. We voluntarily sat out the 2024 season, as he shot this years Ram a year early….

I didn’t know the state auctions off those Rams during fur Rondy?

I’ve never been in your situation but I 100% would. When I go to the casino, I bring $100 and plan on making $100. When I hit $200 total, I leave. I’ve never lost money that way. It’s the people who get greedy and try to turn $100 into 1k that end up losing. I feel like you’re in that situation right now. You’ve already won. Cash out and enjoy the hunt most of us will only dream about.

Bitcoin is over 100k, and basically jumped 45% this year, assuming LTCG’s tax, I would. You use to be able to buy Mexico deserts for 25k 30k not long ago. With the state of Movi and the loss of upper age classes, and bad lamb recruitment across the west, price is just going to keep going up.

Maybe sell some and keep a little to hopefully keep growing. As someone who is getting a little age on them, I’m starting to look back at all the things I wish I would have done when I was a little younger. Don’t let the opportunity pass you by if you can financially swing it without taking away from your family.

Yes

Remember a lot of rich men sold early. Are you in the green substantially? If this peaks out just buy back in 1.5 years later from the peak of the bull run and it’s a good spot to be in for the next few years.

That's exactly how I paid for my 2019 Dall sheep hunt.. And if I hadn't panic sold some, went on a sheep hunt, paid for a down payment on my first house, and bought half of a 40 acre whitetail property with profits off crypto purchased in 2017, I'd be financially able to retire right now in my late 30s :ROFLMAO:

Depends on the deal. If it was a good deal with a reputable outfit, yes. Or its a hunt opportunity that will only come around rarely. If it was just a meh deal on a run of the mill hunt, no.

You seem to be younger and in good shape so there isn't a time factor yet. Then again, maybe you have the drive to get the slam done so you can start on another? Desert hunts aren't usually really tough, so physical ability isn't a great concern.

I agree with Jake. He has a good voice of reason. It would depend on the REST of my financials.

I say the same thing about NVDA. I traded it several times for profits of a few thousand dollars at a time starting in 2020. If I had just left it alone I would have several million dollars just in NVDA stock and would also be set.

To OP, its like any other asset you would sell. Hard to give advice without knowing your full picture. Follow your instincts.

I’d sell some for sure. Sheep hunts aren’t getting cheaper and you’re not getting younger.
