Asking $1200, no idea on round count. They did say I could bring in a borescope.

I like the feel of the action, stock is fine. It's the carbon wrapped barrel that I'm questioning.

If you like it, it could be a great buy.
The only one I have experience with is a .270 WSM and it shoots great.
Let us know if you pick it up and what you think.

Any chance you can get the serial # (discreetly) and call CA to see if they have any info on build date, and maybe any returns or complaints?? Just grasping at straws here and trying to help. Maybe look at the action screws/bolts and see if they look buggered up? Could show signs of someone removing the stock/action to try to fix a problem?? What is the retail price of a similar new rifle (I know, no one pays retail)?

Why question the barrel? It's been proven by a few guys thst Christensen builds pretty consistent carbon barrels. Most, that have actually shot a few of them, will attest to their barrels. $1200, isn't a screaming deal imo. I'd pass, knowing that a few times a year, you can grab a new one for that price.

Good idea to look again, get the SN to research.

The barrel question for me is why dump it? Is it shot out? Is this a problem child? Is the short braked muzzle blast the reason why it's available?
I plan on suppressing it myself.

If you can get it priced so that you aren’t underwater if you have to re-barrel. I’d just let your concerns be known to the shop, tell them what it’s worth to you as an action/stock with a big question mark on the barrel and see if they are willing to adjust price. Your concerns are well founded.

I bought my Fieldcraft in a similar situation. Sometimes people change their mind on guns for silly reasons and no fault to the gun itself.

This is kind of overblown ime. Just memorize a few basic spanish phrases and this is almost a non-issue.

I'm wanting a light 6.5prc and today while burning a bit of time I went in a LGS to look. Ran across a Christiansen Arms carbon wrapped barrel, threaded muzzle on the used rack.

Would you risk a CA rifle?

Would I risk a used rifle? Yes. I have done it many times. So far, I have been very pleasantly surprised about 2/3 of the time and slightly disappointed in the other cases. I factor the cost of fixing the most likely issues into what I am willing to pay.

I won’t comment on the brand, as I have never used them. I do get a good chuckle out of the hyperbolic comparisons in this thread though. I also think CF barrels are a pointless gimmick. No objective reasoning. Just a preference and prejudice.

As far as whether the barrel is shot out, the biggest determinant is “how old is it?” Most people just don’t shoot that much, especially a rifle with any recoil. A two-year old 6.5 PRC probably has a lot of barrel life left in it. If it is ten years old, I would be a lot more worried. But, in any case, it’s not like buying a .220 Swift from 1963.

Just say no to a CF barrel especially that brand buy a , tikka , sauer 100 and be happy from day one

I have a Mesa FFT in 6.5 PRC but it’s lefty. Drives tacks so I got lucky. Hornady outfitter and match are shooting sub MOA for me. I’ve thought about offloading it to get a 243 or something similar.
