Would you buy this scope?

Put me on the list for two, deposit, full payment… however it has to happen, I’m in.
Been waiting a long time for “THE” scope.

Really appreciate the time and work you all have done to make this happen.

Just to add to the data points, I’d put down a deposit.

I am somewhere in the middle on testing. In this case, the physical design and the design intent is known (engineers, Ryan, Form, etc.). IF that design is already proven to some degree it could reduce risk. Beating up 3 might be enough to validate the design with good confidence. If the design is entirely new and unproven, it gets harder. Proceed with testing and when all the data points to a solid design, move forward with production. No timeline.

Whatever the timeline turns into is no issue to me.

I do know that lightweight, snappy recoiling rifles eat scopes. No brake or suppressor, sharp recoil will expedite discovery of certain weaknesses.

I would be in for 3 too but in the 2-8 as I don't really need the 18x. I figure those might be at least a year out.

Estimating how many to order is a much harder question.

Rokstock orders might be a pretty good proxy, and might possibly even be on the low side of total current scope interest, as not every one of these scopes will go on a bolt gun, or a Rokstocked gun.

I'll also +1 the idea of doing a non-refundable $100 deposit. I'd be in for at least 2.

@Formidilosus and @Ryan Avery, hate to piss in your cereal but here is a pessimistic look at potential outcomes that might influence your decision and some of your promises on timelines here. And to state clearly up front, I'm a big fan of this design and appreciate what you've done to get it to this point.

Making any sort of snap decision based on a "6 month" timeline to squeak in before hunting season is a bad move here. It's ~February, 6 months is ~August, which is already hunting season for some. Add to that people need to mount, zero, practice, etc, and ANY slip in that stated time frame, and you're setting a bunch of people up for disappointment. And really, that was the worst part of the Rokstock (and other things in life), was that the promises didn't come true, not really that it took X months for some people. Plus, we're all adults here (at least on our IDs...), if you tell us these may take 9-12 months to get in our hands, I think those who are interested will still put deposits and participate in the whole rollout. And then, if some folks get them in 6 months, you are heroes rather than just meeting expectations.

Like I said, cynical/pessimistic take, but that's what I do best haha.

Would be OK with a 12 month leadtime for there to be a second set of (20-30) scopes to prove out.
I would also be cautiously optimistic that if LOW says this is their gold standard and it passes the X thousand rounds tests that a second set of scopes may not be needed. Whatever works.

Most people, even most Roksliders I’d bet, aren’t wanting this scope to replace a ZP5 or ATACR or Trijicon. We’re adding a scope or replacing SFP or MOA scopes because we either don’t have a high end scope or don’t have enough of them.

Largely yes, agree, but with a little bit of no. I just picked up 2 ZP5s with the THLR reticle, 75% because of the reticle, 25% because of the optical capabilities of the Minox. Both will end up on Tikkas - one .223, the other a hot .22 or 6mm. But one just got mounted on an AR, somewhat as a training setup for me to learn the scope better until these Tikkas are built - and it's an absolute hog of a scope on that 16" gun.

I can't see a reality where I'd want it there, beyond learning how to use the reticle. But this Rokscope seems nearly ideal for what I use that particular AR for, and it would be replacing an LPVO. And likely a couple of other scopes on other guns - the utility of that reticle and having it uniform across my rifles seems, in theory at least, pretty ideal.

That said, I wouldn't plan on getting a 3rd massive scope if I got into LR or added a second really fast, flat-shooting bolt gun. I'd likely take the ZP5 off the .223 and put it on the gun that had more benefit from the LR utility of the scope, and replace it with a Rokscope.

Just to set an expectation on shipping a pile of widgets from overseas: us customs is overloaded right now even coming from the most “friendly” countries and genuinely innocuous products. My shipments coming from europe usually take 1-3 days to go thru customs. Since the de minimus exemption was rescinded and fed agency budget cuts, 30% of my shipments have taken 30-45 days or more just to get thru customs. So depending on what the details are in that 6-month timeline, it could easily still be “on time” and 6 months could become 7-8 months in reality. This stuff takes time, and not all of that time is even possible to “control” or even “manage”.

Me personally, I’m 100% in for both a 3-18 and the eventual 2-8.

As far as timing,
Maybe give it until the western hunt expo in feb before putting in the next order?

I dought LOW cares they are just the builder, going off of the specs set by others. LOW is gonna be paid whether the scopes are successful or not.

It isn't in my budget and isn't even a priority for me this year - my first priority is a new non-dialing reliable scope for a muzzleloader that's strictly a short range weapon - but I would do a deposit if there was a rough timeline of when I could/must pay the balance and get the new scope. If it's ~6 months I can easily swing that. Heck, I can swing 3 months; I'd just like to have a ballpark idea up front with the understanding that it might miss by a month or three.

Where did anyone ask for info on who would pay a deposit? People are just gooning out over trying to get a spot to buy the first release and offering information that was never requested. Yes, they need to gauge interest on the actual volume to order but people need to chill and allow this to transpire naturally. The more things are rushed, the greater the chances for mistakes or failure becomes. Trust the process.

LOW acknowledges and values your drop evals as a pass/fail criteria for their designs?
I assumed as others mention that they just build scopes to a spec, and possibly that they have never heard of Rokslide
