Would you buy this scope?

Its hard to keep track but how are they pushing the boundaries exactly? At this point, from what I have gathered, they are making Trijicon with a different reticle.

For this scope, better reticle, better turrets, more zoom. Potentially better price point.

It's amazing how many podcast you can listen to driving from Wisconsin to Colorado to New Mexico back to Colorado back to Wisconsin for a little hunting.

If you have noticed, Form and I don't really care if the masses want it; if we want it, there are enough other people who will want it.

The scopes will be 3-18x44 sub 25oz and DURABLE. The reticle will be a hunting reticle, not a tacdafag reticle—low profile turrets with an elevation turret that stays put with a price tag that won't break the bank. The Maven has come the closest, but IMO, no scope has put this all together yet.

Sounds like the OG LRHS but with a higher upper magnification, that was a good scope

Tariffs + inflation create a literal manufacturing hellscape. Landed cost can't be known until there's a projected ship date -- and perhaps a bit of patience if DC looks like it's about to have a sober window.

Agreed, more options for consumers is a win. Especially by a company that understands this niche in the shooting market. If this scope is successful I'm sure there will be more to follow.

There are quite a few posts in this thread where people said they wanted more Xs than 12 and they all got told those scopes were already available.

It’s hard to complain about a new quality scope but this isnt what many were hoping for. Unless the price is very competitive it’s quickly losing appeal vs what’s already available on the new and used market.

It’s not the same internals- even a turret type change effects durability and reliability.

I am simply curious as to how, which would lead me to wonder why all the other brands that use Light Optics don't do it.

Because they don’t demand it. They don’t demand it, becaus they don’t understand it or care. Very few companies give a rip at all about reliability and durability.
Every once in a while a company will get a scope that works, because they get lucky or because they use the same base model as another. But, there are only a couple companies that put reliability and durability at the top- with a written requirement for it.


The erector being used is “new”, and this scope is supposedly the first that will have it.

Because a 3-12 sub 20oz scope made as we wanted was a ground up 2-3 year project and a pretty large upfront cost. Tough to do first when an option was available that would get a whole lot right that we didn’t like about what is currently on the market.
The 3-18x scopes in the market weren’t doing anything we wanted- however, something new was offered so that was chosen.

The amount of people that want to buy a 3-12x is significantly less than those who will buy a 3-18x done right. Ryan and I both want the scope that was originally posted about. However, it’s a long term deal. If these scopes (which we also wanted) do well, then there will be more coming in the future.

Pushing boundaries- No.

Things that should have been done from the start- Yes.

What should separate it from the Tenmile-

- as reliable or more
- shorter
- lighter
- low profile 10 mil elevation turret, capped windage
- larger eyebox
- better glass
- better FOV
- better reticle
- better low light illumination
- $600 to $700 less

From memory, a few timeframes were mentioned: possibly mid next year, Fall next year, to this time next year. There are a lot of moving parts; no doubt, once it's a bit clearer Ryan will be able to give a tighter estimate.

So: a bit of a wait, but a wait to get what many of us want. While a lot here don't like waiting, the flipside is that's what comes with being asked about concepts in advance, and being kept up to date with the realities of what it takes to get such a project realised.

And still the SWFAs and the RS1.2 in the meantime, so hopefully there's no whinging about the wait ...

After doing a tiny bit of looking it does not appear that any Schott rifle scope glass is made in China.

I'm just repeating what Frank Galli has said multiple times on The Everyday Sniper.

I'm not personally concerned much either way, but if Frank is incorrect, I'd be interested if you could share your source for this.

Starting to sound like a durable Leica amplus 6 with some Ryan and Form tweaks…which we should all be thankful for.

That Leica scope is 12.5”, 24oz, 3-18x44 illuminated.

Thank you. I wasn't complaining. I've not been the best at following this thread, and I stopped listening to the podcasts some time ago. Looking forward to seeing it, whenever it's ready. And I'm still long SWFAs and an RS1.2, so I'm g2g in the interim.
