Would you buy this scope?

First all the Leupolds, and now all the NFs? You don't muck around ...
Nikons are next. Need the SWFA 6x to come back in stock as these are on muzzle loaders. Then I’ll drop test my last 3 Nikons or I may just sell them I haven’t decided. So far 3 Leupold, 4 NF, 3 Nikons, 2 Burris, 2 Swarovski and 1 Khales. All replaced with Maven 1.2 and a SWFA’s and 1 sightron

I still do not like the SWFA reticle but it hasn’t kept me from killing critters yet.

The issue is that in general, unless it’s a mil issues scope- colored ones don’t sell all that well compared to black.
Makes sense. I'm not sure how much (if any) improvement the bronze-ish anodizing colors might offer.

External coatings offer all manner of interesting properties, but too much labor (or very complex machinery) for a mass market product.

My kneejerk response is that anything with lower absorption will probably be shiny and hard to market

vet wrap or hockey tape should help

That, or just rattle can to suit preference in color. Unless resale value is a concern.

It'd be tough to meet every whim for FDE, tan, bronze, etc.

Something we touched on earlier, but didn’t explicitly say:

Can you thread the ocular and objectives the same pitch as Leupold?

Love them or hate them, in my opinion the Leupy Alumina caps are the best on the market. Let us buy our own.

Not sure @nm.otter was after a range of colors, or acting on a whim - they just pointed out that black scopes can get hot in high heat / solar gain contexts.

Good grief! Your hurt feeler report has been noted.

My sincerest apologies to you and "they", for suggesting a simple solution (spray paint) to create a non-black scope.

I'd also like to acknowledge your stature are Thought Police, for all of Rokslide.

Thanks!

Err ... no hurt feelings, and not being 'thought police' at all ... your post had just seemed to miss the point made in the original post about the issue. Nothing more, nothing less - no need for snarky comments or name calling.

Maybe I just have trust issues. But I don't understand why someone would sell a quality "gently used" scope for less than 50% of the MSRP.

Any currently available product loses some percentage of its value when you take it out of the store. My usual estimate is that I will lose 20-30% off sale price on any item I resell if there is a new version available. Optics and firearms have the additional loss from the trust factor - has it been dropped? Is the barrel shot out?

Also, most people don’t buy at MSRP. My new Trijicon 3-9x40 Accupoint was $598. On sale at EuroOptic, it was $650. MSRP is $998. As a reputable seller, I think I could get $600 for it if I was patient.
