It's all about educating and opening minds. Especially the virulently closed ones.

Open your mind to the thought someone can not like an entire genere of music and not be racist.
Your not showing anyone how open your mind is. Quite the opposite making blanket racist statements.

I don't like Thai food.

Atleast, none I have had, and it makes me shit my brains out.

Don't know if I should keep trying it to find that one dish I like so I'm not racist.

The fact you have an actual physical response shows just how deep seated the racism is. Really the only way to cure it is to keep eating thai food until you stop having negative physical responses to it. Keep going at any cost. It might get worse before its better. Its always darkest before the light.

I'm merely stating that the underlying mental associations such a person might have as to whom they PERCEIVE the most notable sub-genres under that umbrella are made by, for and about... it's not a stretch of the imagination to see that such a mental association would dissuade this close-minded individual from exploring... to then learn.."Oh sh!t.. what's this? This is cool. Hmmphj. Never knew they even made songs this way too.

It's apparent to anyone whose "scouted" countless hours for new music among multiple genres in order to have a good library built-up when either DJ'ing an event.. or hosting an event and know they're going to have a very diverse age-demographic at that event.... sir.. that you haven't done such work yourself.

Otherwise you'd know about the sheer immense magnitude of variants there are which fall underneath the Rap genre.

Heck... a good chunk of most Rock songs are already written in a way that they can easily be transformed into a delivery style others would identify as "Rap" already. "Walk This Way" easily comes to mind.

I could have sworn I'd asked you if it'd be cool to just keep each others name out of the others mouth. Yet here you go again.

But, since we are now here. I'd like to ask "Why do you believe (without even knowing what all the other variants sound like) that you "hate" all the multitude of sub-genres that fall under the umbrella of the genre known as "Rap"? It's literally impossible for you to honestly say you "hate" ALL of it, when you have no Earthly idea just what a wide and broad range there actually is that exists out there.

At any rate. It's blaringly obvious you're very "set in your ways" in terms of allowing new content to be on your radar at all. So with that... I hope the 2023 season brings you great luck, and bid you farewell, sir.

EDIT: Just for clarity sake. There are soo many of us who grew up with that Genre who dis-like a metric shit-ton of what's being pumped out in lamestream sources these days. We use terms like "Mumble Rap" to describe it, for example. Just like when someone whose first preferred is Rock or whose First Preferred is Country... certainly you're not going to like all representative tracks which fall under that genre name. As is evidence by this thread's posts from everyone. See how that works?

Show me one time where I said I hate rap or anything else and I will concede your right.
I simply defended someones right to not like something. Kinda like I dont care for you.
So again show me where I said I hate rap. Just. one. time.

You were the one that bumped my post 2 years later for the second time. So you put my name in your mouth. You stated this. AGAIN. So get off your high horse. DOG

There was a post I saw come up... it made me take action. Nothing more. Nothing less. That it happened to reference a prior post of yours... now.. is lamentable.

Again.. I wish you success in 2023 sir. l8r

Sorry, forgive the intrusion again. Just wanted to address your gauntlet challenge of finding someplace you'd said a particular statement.

So, for my own edification, to be clear... when you say "someone" here... you are NOT referring to your own self?

I dont hate Rap.
I just dont consider it actual music....just noise.
Hi FLAT... being the ever-curious type.. what would it need, muscially, in order for you to not consider it "noise"? Just wanting to better understand the other point of view is all here.

Isn't "lamestream" putting a label on something the same way saying rap sucks does?
It's because I know what kind of much greater content is out there other than the "main" normal channels that most folks come into contact with new music, and it's severely limiting in what it shoves under peoples noses.

Talent. Actual meaningful lyrics and non rudimentary instrumentals would be a good start.

Can you provide greater insight as to what conditions would need to exist in terms of lyrical content in order for you to grant it the title of "meaningful"? I can think of some pretty haunting verses that would leave any normal human silently gasping under their breath "Dang, Oh My Gawd!" in relation to the deep and cold haunting images they paint related to mans inhumanity to man.

EDIT: This track, for example, comes to mind. It has a super harsh ending that you won't see coming.
NOTE: NSFW

NOPE. I wasnt refering to myself. I like some rap.

Please learn to read a date stamp and not jump to conclusions. You know who jumps to conclusions and judges books by their cover. Racists.

G-if you enjoy rap thats great.
Just not my cup of tea.
I dont care for Mexican Music either, nor Italian or Cajun food.
My teenage son loves rap music, but I dont think any less of him for it.
To each his own.

Thank you for the greater clarity FLAT.

And just so you guys know. I was fed a steady diet of Classic Rock by my older brothers growing up. Led Zep, Van Halen , etc.

And I do like most Classic Rock jams. It's just that the more freeform, anything goes, keeps you guessing aspect found in the Rap Genre.. I dunno.. when done right, it just calls out to me. And ugh.. how I hated when the "rest of America" was trying to jump on that band wagon just to make a quick buck back then because it produced some of thee worst and cheesiest attempts at music on the planet in the early 80's.

I'm curious FLAT. I just want to clarify since you're essentially doing to the same thing all over again now, but with a different ethno group. You're saying "Mexican Music". But I hazard to guess you may be unware of how few actual genres there are which are specifically "Mexican". Just as an example, if you were to say "Salsa" that is not an art form they invented. So is it safe to then say that, in general, you don't like all Latin music styles? (Remember, when we open it up to "Latin" you're now talking about a crap-ton of countries)
