Workouts/Best time to shoot your bow...

If you are shooting your bow to be a better hunter you should incorporate shooting when your muscles are burning, lungs are on fire, and you are winded to the point of mentally slowing down your breathing. If you're not then when that bull or buck presents a shot when you are out of breath and can't hold steady because you haven't practiced that way, you're going to wish you had. I'm not saying that you should shoot this way all the time but you should program your fitness regiment to peak for hunting season if that's what your training for. Practice doesn't make perfect......Perfect practice makes perfect. Just like shooting from your knees, sitting, standing, etc. it all makes you a better hunter!!

You are correct, you should be doing it periodically to see how you perform.

For Heaven's sakes though, don't do this everyday. You will invariably develop bad habits from doing so and your shooting will suffer long term. You should do perfect repetitions regularly. Then, when you are tired, fatigued, and stressed, you will have the solid mechanics you have built to fall back on.

I see this all the time with guys I teach to shoot pistols. If there mechanics and form aren't sound, as soon as they get tired their shooting goes to hell. I have a hard time believing that anyone is going to be able to teach themselves good form when they are shooting in a fatigued state. The purpose of shooting in a fatigued state is to test the foundation of your mechanics and/or form.

what I found while shooting in an exhausted state was dropping my arm... which will always cause a low shot.

I have trained myself to keep my arm up until the arrow hits the target, this will help.
