Hey all,

Need jeans for work starting Wednesday. I just got off the phone with the boss and we'll be hiking a bunch. Does anyone have a recommendation for jeans that are similar to Kuhl Renegades?

Is the hiking work related? need something tough but comfy?

Kuhl also makes a pant that is a more traditional Jean fabric but with stretch panels integrated for added range of motion/comfort. I want to say it is the kuhl radikl?

They make quite a few different jean models, the Radikl is NOT a jean. The Renegade is maybe the one you are thinking of? They make several other jean models, just google KUHL and you will find them.

The renegades are not what I was thinking of. I own those and they are built from a nylon stretch/soft shell fabric not anything like jeans.

You are right that kuhl has alot if pant options that should work.

Yeah, hiking is work related. I would never voluntarily hike in jeans. I'm starting work for the South Dakota Game & Fish on Wednesday and was told jeans were apart of the "uniform".. Maybe there will be some leniency, but I doubt it. The only jeans I have are Levi's and I feel are a bit too dressy looking, plus there's not enough room for proper movement for residents between my legs.

Dickies work jeans from Walmart. I wear them at work and for mid season hunts when not too active. They are tough and come in some earth tones. I used the spray on water proof stuff which helps them a lot. They are inexpensive about $25 with tax. Only draw back is they can be hot. Fit wise they are a relaxed cut which helps the lack of stretch.

At first they seem too stiff but break in real fast

I agree hiking in jeans is not ideal but this is me with the dickies. I put about 100 miles on that one pair in 5 years. For what you're doing I would rather have hot legs than tear up some expensive pants.
I've seen local game and fish wearing them too.

Interesting. I've never seen a SD Game and Fish employee wearing jeans?
I've seen the Colorado divisions of wildlife. I'm sure if there is a reason like a multi day back country work camp they would be allowed something different.

Summer technician, so not a permanent employee. What have you seen them wear? I really prefer Kuhl's and wouldn't mind wearing those.

They all wear dark brown cargo/tactical 6 pocket style pants. One of the local warden's son's goes to school with my son and he wears them every day. I see him dropping his son off at school about every day. The only time I've seen him in actual jeans is when he doesn't have his uniform top on.

Where are you going to be located? In the hills somewhere?

Yeah, I'll be in Rapid City working for a big game biologist. That's good to hear about the pants.

They have an actual Renegade Jean, along with several other jean models. IF you want to stay with KUHL, there are tons of options.
