Filson 24 or 48hour bag sounds like a good candidate. $$$ but have timeless looks and you can beat the crap out of them.

I run a condor backpack for work/ quick trips. The material is made of HD denier nylon to be a bit more rugged & water resistant. The multiple compartments allows for laptop, pwk, food and a change of cloths if I choose.
