New here.. looking to get thoughts on a womans build. Not looking to break the bank.. can be an older model. Just looking to get opinions from others who have been in this space. Was considering the Mathews Prima...

Welcome, are you new to archery? I would go to your local shop and shoot what they have there and see what feels best. They’ll work with you and your budget when building a setup. I wouldn’t get set on any bows until you shoot them and see which feels/is best

Elite Omnia, or any other speed bow if she is a well formed archer.

Bowtech Amplify or any of the other very adjustable bows if she is newer and wishes to start out at 30lb and grow to 60+lbs

Otherwise, any other bow in the correct draw weight and length would suffice. Most of the newer "women's bows" out there are just feminine color ways, or if unique cams, pretty lackluster in performance or harsh. Of what exists now in "women's bows" that you could walk out of the shop with today, Elite Allure would be my choice over a Mathews Prima.

@KickinNDishin is reviewing Hoyt's new AX2sd but it hasn't come in yet.

My wife started with a diamond razors edge years ago, killed a few whitetails with it set at 45#s. A couple of years ago she decided she wanted to try to kill an elk with a bow and I bought her a Prima with 50# limbs. They offer two sets of mods, a smooth mod and a speed mod, she'll shoot the smooth mods in the offseason which is a little easier and slower but during the summer once she gets her daily shot count up we switch to the speed mods for hunting.

With the same arrow set up, Gold tip pierce 400 125 grain head 413 grains total, her 60 yard mark on the speed mod is 70 yards on her smooth mods.

I will say they don't make the Prima anymore but you can still find them new in places. She loves it and has killed two bulls with that setup with iron will heads. One was a 16 yard frontal and the other an 8 yard broadside shot, both fell within sight. She loves it and shoots several times a week during the offseason and yes I bought it for her without her shooting it then set it up for her but that's the route I went and it has worked for her.

I know a place that has an RX 8 50 lb draw that would be a perfect woman’s bow. Running some sales on the carry overs too.

DM me if interested

My wife shoots a Bowtech Carbon Rose she bought a few years ago as package deal. We visited a few local shops and she shot a number of bows before choosing the bowtech. A great shop can make a huge difference. Our local shop didnt really want to help her as she was new to archery so we went to a neighboring town and they were a huge asset.

My wife shoots the same bow. At the time (7 years ago or so) she shot all the top "womens bows" and some bows that had low poundage options. She liked the Carbon Rose the best. And the shop she shot it in was the most helpful shop of the 4 she shot bows in.

NO way I personally would buy a bow on recommendation only and definitely wouldn't do that to my wife/gf or new shooter. I recommend shooting every bow they can get their hands on multiple times.

My wife shoots a lift 29.5 at just shy of 50lbs. We shot several but she liked the lift the best, and we got a great deal on it as they were clearing out last year's bows for the new models. She's got a Hamskea epsilon and a SH fast eddie XL on it and loves it.

My wife shoots a Bowtech Solution SD set at #45 and 25" draw . It is the same bow as the "Eva Shockey 2" that is targeted to female archers. She tried the Prima, a Hoyt, the Diamond 320, and an Elite. It came down to the one she has now and the Prima.

She isnt really in to Hunting, and mainly just has it to shoot targets with me and TAC, but she thoroughly enjoys it.
