Most people can't handle nature's brutality, but don't account their own actions. This lady is a prime example. Oh look that bird of prey is hurting that duck, I better go beat it to death.

Shows what the average person's mental state is towards birds of prey. Personally I hate bald eagles after spending several years in the Aleutian's watching those vermin. However, I would never bash one in the head for steeling my fish or bashing me in the head for getting too close to its nest while out hiking. My buddy that was partially scalped by and eagle may disagree.
Since the bird was personal property the hunter has a really good civil case against the woman. It costs a lot of time and effort to capture and raise then train a falcon. That is easily transfered into $$ value. She has pled to a criminal fine so time for civil action.
I thought this could happen only in CO. I'll never understand how people go out of their way to "protect" nature but don't really want it- in the sense nature is in some eyes brutal and cold. It's just elementary school biology- the food chain at work.
I know a guy who's been an avid hiker for 40+ years and he recently lamented he's never seen a mountain lion. My question to him was when was the last time you went into the woods with a predator mentality? Do you ever pay attention to the wind, noise, etc? The thought never crossed his mind. I have to unfortunately say it was an enlightening moment for both of us.
