Never thought I would see this... HR 845 passed today 211-204. This will remove wolves from the ESA within 60 days and includes a clause to limit the judicial review of the decision. This is epic and paired with HR 1987 will set a precident moving forward. I would bet Grizzlies are next.

HR 1897 The ESA Amendments Act includes provisions for restoring scientific integrity in species listings, promoting state management, and streamlining permit processes. It aims to prevent activist interference and ensures compliance with recent Supreme Court rulings related to ESA applications.

Has to pass the Senate first
Correct but the house voted along party lines. It will pass the senate if the same holds true. I’ll call Hickenlooper and Bennett to ask for yes votes, but I doubt it makes a difference.

Luckily the First Gentlemen Marlon has already taken to Facebook to express his disgust which always warms my heart.

No, it will fail in the Senate if the same holds true. The republicans have a slim majority in both the HOR and Senate. Bills pass the HOR on a simple majority. In the Senate 60 of 100 votes is required, except for specific exceptions (budget reconcilation and some appointments), and the republicans only hold 53 seats. So, some dem votes will be required for HR 845 to pass the Senate and go to the POTUS desk.

Simple majority of 51 votes is all thats needed to pass provided it doesnt get filibustered into the ground

I've seen conflicting information. Some articles are calling it 51, others 60. I do not know what would trigger the 60 threshold but I hope it does not come to that. We need the Senate to take up the bill before a vote occurs.

I've contacted my Senators but we need to make it easy for others to do so as well. @Howl For Wildlife what do we need to do to get an Action set up for this... the ANTI version already had one set up for the House vote...

I messaged both the CO democrat senators asking for a yes vote this morning. I would encourage anyone with a democrat senator to email or call.

I believe someone has to filibuster it to make it take 60 votes. Which means a democrat has to care enough to try and stop it.

I’d be fine going back to seeing more elk and zero wolves, although I have enjoyed seeing the few wolves I’ve run across in Wyoming. Not trying to suggest how you guys run the Trump party, but Democratic strategists are probably salivating at this passing - the GOP is way under water in the latest poles and headed down rather than up just in time for the 2026 mid term elections. Every photo of a wolf killed would be made into posters and grandmothers and overly passionate college girls would be so worked up they’d be laying eggs while marching around going door to door saying Senator Joe Blow did this. Wolves are so cuddly to so many people the divorce rate would also go up. It’s right up there with killing all the feral horses, which I’m ok with, but would be political suicide.

Emotional issues with zero benefit for bringing in additional Republican votes is dead before it gets started.

Would this make the oligarchs more money or less taxes? Nope. Strike two.

Can Trump capitalize on this for his personal benefit? Nope. Strike three.

That was a great read. A solid 90/10 split on pro-delisting vs anti's in there.
Yeah after I read that, I’ve been served 20+ posts by environmental groups urging people to contact their senators for a NO vote. Every one of those posts have comment sections that are heavily weighted towards people saying vote YES.

If people are actually contacting their senators, it seems very one-sided in our favor.

Contrary to the common viewpoint on this forum, I don’t hate having wolves on the landscape. I do hate how environmentalist groups have weaponized the ESA and continually moved the recovery objective goalposts because they cannot stand to see wolves or grizzlies hunted. It should be celebrated as a victory to have management of wolves and grizzlies handed over to state wildlife agencies.

I’m also very pro feral horse hunting as well. I’m not a big fan of Boebert so maybe she can put it on her list next even if it is political suicide. 😂

I guarantee WA will not comply and will sue.

Sue for what?
Removing them from the ESA doesn't compel a state to do anything; they keep right on managing per their Management Plan, as they did when they were delisted in 2020.

For OR:
"The Oregon Wolf Conservation and Management Plan and associated technical rules guide all ODFW wolf related activities. ODFW manages wolves in three wolf management zones (West Zone / Federally Listed, East Zone / Federally Listed, East Zone / Federally Delisted). Wolves throughout Oregon were delisted from the state Endangered Species List on November 10, 2015. Wolves are protected statewide by the Wolf Plan and Oregon statute."
