Sounds like the re introduction of wolves into Colorado has been listed on the ballot for 2020. Sounds like a time for sportsman to make ourselves heard.

A few wolves are pretty cool but it never stops there. We have them where I live in AK. They are legal to harvest, I think it’s 5 annually. They have put the hurt on the small local moose population and have now swam across about a half mile or so of water to a neighboring island and have decimated the Sitka black tail deer herd there.

I’d be inclined to not be a supporter of reintroduction if I were a CO resident considering how far to the left it has swung there. It’s hard to manage them once you get them, even when there’s a season. The biologists here say the only effective means of control is killing the pups at the den. That’s a real emotional subject.

I'm not a CO resident so my vote is mute but I sure hope all of you speak up to stop this. There are plenty enough places to go see wolves as it is. No need to introduce a non native species into Colorado. Plenty of predators already.

They are definitely not non-native. It seems like Colorado is going to have wolves no matter what. Its too bad we cant just let it happen naturally.

I was under the impression that the wolves they would be introducing is a different subspecies than what was originally there. I do apologize if that's incorrect.

I still think they should not be introduced. CPW is having a hard enough time figuring out where elk are disappearing to.

That is a good point. They cant even take care of the big game species they already have. Throwing another headache into the mix is going to make things even worse.

According to USFW, there is a proposal to delist Gray Wolves from the ESA in states that have populations but haven't delisted yet. Anyone with more knowledge and insight about this care to say how this might affect Colorado if they are introduced? Would they be considered endangered at first until their population increased? Public comment is available until May 14th, link below. CPW has publicly opposed this reintroduction from what I heard, but it sounds like it will be up to Voters and Hunters to prevent this reintroduction.

My opinion is that even if you don't live or hunt in Colorado, this affects you! When the Colorado Elk population is reduced from Wolf predation and no one can manage them due to the court system, all of the non-resident hunters that Colorado sees are going to go somewhere else!

I'd say it's time for all who live there to rise up and kill all those mangy Mutts as they're being turned loose if they do such a thing, you residents have my word I will go all out redneck on every wolf I see when i'm out there hunting!

Go all out Redneck in Col. on wolves and Go to prison and
be all out -Bubbas bich. Not a good idea.Let the court system
stab themselves in he back.

Sierra Club brought their circus to Steamboat Springs a year ago and tried to make their wolf reintroduction pitch. The amount of opposition they were met with was astounding.

I’ll talk with my vote but my wager is that Colorado makes the right choice on this issue when it is all said and done. The headaches and horror stories that our neighbors to the north are dealing are too hard to ignore.

I have zero confidence that Colorado will make the right choice. Just looking at the past few months tells me all I need to know about what is important to Colorado public officials. We voted no as a state on the oil and gas bill and then the public officials still found a way to pass a similar bill.

Agreed it has been abysmal. Take a few billion dollars from the rigs and start ticking off the ranchers/rural constituents by reintroducing wolves. Polis is making a strong case for re-election.

Listening to the first 10min of the Eastmans Elevated podcast. The host is basing opinion on emotion and skewing facts to present a falsified picture. I’m not for reintroduction of wolves but it would be refreshing if they would talk not out of their ass.

Edit:

HAHAHAHA can’t believe I wasted my time listening to this. I’m out.

Plus, Denver and Boulder dictate what happens politically in this state. Of the amount of people moving to Denver and the front range from other parts of the country, I would imagine only a small percentage would be hunters or knowledgeable about the detrimental affect wolves will have in Colorado.

I guarantee you there will be wolf reintroduction advocates canvassing at the Denver flagship REI every weekend using wolf/dog puppies as props and asking all people coming and going if they have a minute to talk about the benefits of reintroducing wolves.

It's going to be very hard for those working against wolves being reintroduced to convince the general public that their romantic visions of wolves in the wilds of Colorado are not going to be reality.

How so i thought Aron brought lots of facts like the financial problems the wolves would cause. What picture did they falsify ?
