That's awesome! So many folks say running is bad for the knees and back (I don't doubt them, just saying) but the difference it has made for my endurance is insane. I'm also new and not good at it.

14 months ago I was hiking up one of the same inclines I did last Saturday. It's about 700ft of elevation in a very short distance. I had my watch on that day, and just happened to look at it about 2/3rds of the way up that hill.

My heart rate was 189, so I stopped for 5 minutes to chill out. I finished that day at 24 miles @ 2.3 mph.

Last Saturday I topped that same hill without stopping and never topped 138 bpm. Finished over 35 at 2.9 mph

Opened one of the gates at the barn today, and found the V made with the gate open gave me the perfect opportunity to try dips.

Now I know another excercise I suck at.

So,
6x 6 Dips
3x 15 Squats
Lunges
Push ups
3x 6 Pull ups
2x 20s Single arm deadhangs
Short jog

Did it with my son and he tried to make a run at me, had to show him the ol’ man still has it though 🙂. Might be the last year I can hold him off.
You gotta show them how it’s done every once in a while. You know what they say… families that lift together stay together.
