I'm torn between the Apache and the Versalite, I've had each one in my cart a couple times now. The main use will be September elk hunts as well as midwest November whitetail hunts. I would say I sleep a little cold. Anybody have experience with either or both? Thank you.

I have had an Apache MF since about 2006. I have gotten through nights in the low teens without getting chilly. I do always use a silk liner, mainly to keep the bag clean, but it also adds warmth. With the MF shell, I have never had a problem due to moisture from tipi drips or from the footbox touching the side of the tent.

Recently went through the same dilemma and went with a versalite.

I do have a megalite that I use in September though.

I don’t think you can make a wrong choice here. It can get cold in November, I wouldn’t expect to take these bags much below their rating.

Thanks for the help. Do you have any issues with the down getting wet or the exterior being fragile? These were the two reasons I was leaning towards the Apache.

I have never used one of their microfiber bags. I have used the megalite regularly the last few years, and had no problems. I do run an ultra lite bivy for bag and pad protection though when floorless.

I also spent hours researching the same topic and in the end I just had to pick, really no wrong answer. WM makes a heck of a bag.

Okay thanks again. I'm going to go with the Versalite for the extra 5 degrees with very little weight increase. It sounds like either way I wont regret this purchase.

I have been looking at wm bags as well, thinking about the versalite, FYI backcountry has a 15 percent discount for first time buyers.
