With the ever increasing price of a North American Sheep hunt, where are the best values internationally?

Now I hope no one is offended by this but I've never had much interest in the Aoudad, I view them as an "ugly" sheep.

I agree with you, it’s disrespectful to compare aoudad hunting to NA sheep hunting.

Not much difference in an aoudad hunt vs a desert bighorn.

To me they are really interesting. I do not understand why people give these sheep hell. They are a heck of a resource.

"disrespectful" is a strange choice of words.

Even the game ranch aoudads are cagey.

I have only hunted them free range in New Mexico and in the Chinati mountains of west Texas.

I had a friend recently return from bear hunting in Russia. Definitely a great value if you don't mind the risk factor. He never felt uncomfortable from a risk perspective besides his nerves going through customs. I won't be going to Russia anytime soon, but he's going back for moose and sheep!

Are you able to export capes and horns from Russia to US?

Funny I have a life size dall mount and a pedestal wall mount aoudad about 10 feet apart. When new people that arent sheep nuts come to my house they are like wow look at those horns and they gravitate towards the aoudad? I'm like whaaaat you havnt even hardly looked at the dall. But the aoudad does look nice.

Personally I value desert bighorns over all other NA big game. Having said that, Aoudad prosper in West Texas and bighorns struggle. Be thankful for what we have.

Which international Ovis or Capra game will be the next Dall sheep in terms of price appreciation? Mid Asian Ibex? Russian Snow Sheep?

Yes this will be my first international hunt. My cousin pushed me into it. I am looking forward to it but nervous. They like to shoot long range. I like to stalk within 200 yds. Lots of travel time. Flying and driving.

Feel like it will be the mid-Asian ibex. It’s an impressive trophy and relatively cheap all things considered. Low barrier of entry for a mountain hunt experience. Tur is another one, although currently closed. Bet the cost of tur jumps when it becomes available again though.

Kind of kick myself sometimes for choosing another Safari over a tur back when they were available.

I’m guessing more and more North American hunters will opt for an internstional sheep hunt instead of hunting one of the domestics.

Even guys that might already have a half slam today must be looking at the prices to complete the their slam and seriously consider Asia.

Assuming you don’t have any of the NA sheep today, completing the slam using outfitters would cost what, $200,000 US minimum?

i dono id guess a good portion of guys that are hunting sheep are wanting to do NA sheep bc they are doing it more for the clout than than the adventure.

Shots are about 400-800 yards average way up @14,000+ feet in altitude and it’s a huge adventure, planes, Land Cruiser, horses, feet and then reverse the process
Pack you some extra food just in case
