Will Tikka come out with a 6 CM soon???

I'm thinking that I have gotten lucky. At this point most of my rifles have been blued and I have never had an issue with corrosion including my crop damage rifle that had never been cared for gently. When I took it out the stock to send it in to be threaded there was a small line near the stock.
The picture of the Blued action after a few hours is really surprising to me, I would have been shocked to find my rifle like that.

Way back when I used to hunt in the rainforest with blued rifles I swear they would start rusting during the drive out there. :ROFLMAO:

Make no mistake, I own stainless rifles and take them on the rainforest hunts (PNW)!

Definitely seems an inconsistency with blued. I'm not sure about Wing Gypsy (that's wild), but maybe most of these are near the coast?

looks like a couple stainless and blued 6cm factory barrels already found ebay auctions. they are not that cheap though.

I got to play with these at the gun store store today, I'd sure like to have a stainless one. The 22" barrel doesn't bother me.

Curious what you consider cheap, I don’t necessarily disagree with you.

But they are priced equaled to the other cartridge offerings.

OMR is the best chance at a fair price since they start most of their takes offs at $50 starting bids.

J&A upcharges to counter eBay fees, your better off ordering direct from them off the site.

Stainless ones will get surface rust fairly easy too but not nearly as bad. The stainless bolt on that rifle needed a good oiling to wipe off the surface corrosion.

i dont think ive ever wiped my stainless down an it has zero rust on it. but all this talk gives me pause about buying a tikka

I dont think Tikka is any worse than any other sub $1000 blued or SS rifle in this regard, probably the opposite.

Put any of them under 0.6" of rain while shooting a few stages, then take them for a 4 hr car ride without wiping down and they'll show surface rust too if matal surface is exposed.

My rifles went hunting for 28 days total last year and get used regularly in all weather conditions. I am on the east coast. They don’t rust if you give them a modicum of care. A little bit of food-grade mineral oil goes a long way.

I suppose it could be worse near the coast, but just getting wet or being in 100-degree humidity causing rust isn’t a thing in my experience.

The last time I had a serious issue with rifles rusting, it involved corrosive priming from old military surplus ammo or sweaty fingerprints.

Oh, and just throwing it out there, if a rifle does have some light surface rust, is that impairing its utility in any way?

Don't let it.

Blued steel rusts under certain conditions. Most of those conditions can be avoided or at least largely mitigated with even the most basic level of care unless you spend a whole lot of time hunting in salty air locales or in really wet conditions.

cheap would be $300 or less for factory takeoffs. many are found in that range in the classifieds. maybe because they are just released in 6creed they will fetch a slightly higher price but at $500or so on ebay its better to just get a custom the way you want for just slightly more.

Interesting the most expensive one I’ve seen is a CTR take off from J&A at $400

There’s a stainless lite threaded for $300

Where did you see $500?

Edit: Apologies, that CTR is $500. Wowzer

If you are paying $300+ for a factory takeoff barrel you might as well just get a prefit made to specifically what you want for a little extra money
I don’t think anyone would disagree with you
I just haven’t seen a 6cm barrel on eBay yet that was a factory barrel selling for more than what any other cartridge is selling for in similar contour.

That’s all I’m saying
