Will Tikka come out with a 6 CM soon???

Eeehhhhh heeeemmmmm @EuroOptic …… Jake, please get your website updated, assuming you have some of these coming in. You’d probably get employee of the month should you have them available 😂🤜🤛
Working on it..
We had some price list & rifle description errors from beretta that slowed the role..

I’m hoping they are live on the site tomorrow and ready for preorders-for now I have to punch in every order manually.
If you are interested, shoot me a message with your full name, email address, phone number, and billing address - I’ll send you a quote.

If you have already messaged me, you are on my list - I will punch orders and quotes in chronologically by who messaged me first

Give us the run down on the different twist in the shorter barrel.
What works better and what load.
Or is it minor enough either way.
For the faster twist preferred barrels, difference is minor, but some guys want to run the heaviest bullets at lower DA. In the short barrel, with less velocity the faster twist makes up for lost RPM.

Most won’t notice any difference.

What’s your predictions on how these new 6cm will shoot the heavier bullets compared to the aftermarket barrels.

My experience is about 11 barrels, 5 of which are Tikka factory barrels. Tikka factory barrels have been more accurate and less fussy on the whole. If given the choice I’d pick them over aftermarket every time.

I have noticed no real difference in accuracy but I have noticed that my Tikka factory barrels are all 75 - 100 FPS slower than other barrels. Perhaps just bad luck, but I don’t think so. I’m pretty convinced Tikka factory barrels are slow, and hence why I’m not rushing out to buy a new factory 6CM

Accuracy difference isn’t game-changing, it’s slight but there. Fussiness is very different, many times I’ve been 200+ rounds into an aftermarket barrel before I find a load.

The only direct comparison I have for velocity is four Tikka 6.5CM barrels against two Aero barrels, they all track right where I’d expect with the same load. Two inches longer makes 55fps-65fps faster.

Maybe they are slow, I don’t know. But if so I’ll take the hit bc 60 rounds in I’m done and off the bench.

Not arguing, just posting up info for anyone interested. I don’t want them in high demand anyway, more for me!

I have a factory Tikka 243 with an 8 twist barrel that was cut to 20". The following are my loads that I shoot from it with the muzzle velocity and the distance to 1800 fps with each load. I also have a Ruger American Predator Gen 1 with a 22" barrel. The following are the loads for that one also. Drops done @ 4000' DA and 34⁰.

Tikka 243 20" bbl 8 twist factory barrel
Factory Hornady 87 VMAX @3070 fps 1800 fps @ 665 yards
Factory Hornady 90 ELDX @2915 fps 1800 fps @ 610 yards
Handloaded 108 ELDM @2898 fps 1800 fps @ 795 yards (easy load with 42 grains of H4350)

Ruger American Predator 22" 7.7 twist factory barrel
Factory Hornady 108 ELDM @2838 fps 1800 fps @ 755 yards
Factory Federal GMM 105 Berger Hybrid @2893 fps 1800 fps @ 812 yards
Factory Hornady 103 ELDX @2846 fps 1800 fps @ 725 yards

The 6mm Creedmoor doesn't really do so much that it makes an 8 twist 243 obsolete. Not really a deal breaker unless you just have to shoot factory ammo. Even if you need to call Unknown Munitions and get them to make you some 108 243 ammo, it wouldn't keep me from shooting a heavy 6mm from a Tikka. If you really wanted the fastest 6mm, the 6UM30 or 6UM40 will take you to the next level.

What’s your COAL for that Tikka 108 Eldm load? TIA
