Will swapping Tikka prefit barrels change POI? Win a free bag.

Between cartridges? Or shooting 22cm, taking the barrel off, then putting it back on?

If the latter I say no change 🤷‍♂️

The way I understand it is that he has two identical barrels chambered in 22 creed and two other barrels chambered in 6 Creed. He will shoot the gun with the 22 Creed barrel, then spin that barrel off and spin the other one on. He will then shoot the gun again and he will measure the POI shift. He will then do the exact same thing with the 6 Creed gun.

I will mix it up, I do get some shift when changing barrels, but they are different cartridges. I predict changing between all four barrels will put the four group centers within .3mil of each other.

My bonus bet is that all bullets fired, I'm assuming there will be forty, will be within or touch a 2" circle at 100yds.

RESULTS

I never got what I felt was a good set up until today. I was always swapping too many things when Ingad to go.

Today, I test fired 10 rounds out of 4 identical Preferred Barrel Blank 22 Creedmoor 18”. The first group had 5 on another target board. We had a cease fire so I put up a new one for the other five.

All I did was swap the barrel while the action was in the chassis and the scope on the action. I torqued to 80 ft lb, while I normally torque barrels actions to 100.

I will measure it out later and pick a winner.

I didn’t have the first round flyer like I have when I am pulling it out of the chassis. I found that interesting.

It’s cool how those groups are basically same overall size from 4 different barrels. Looks like all of them are shooters

Definitely shooters. This is a random load I threw with two different Frankford Arsenal powder throwers as I loaded blem 80 gr ELDm in new brass. I have velocity data I will publish as well from them.

I am not the greatest shooter in the world, and mirage is nasty off the suppressor when it’s hot, even with a cover. I pulled the suppressor off and pulled the cover down and stood it up to cool. It never got below too hot to grab… I shot all of them with the same Ultra 7.

Looks like 3 out of the 4 barrels had roughly a 2” shift from each other, while 1 was roughly double that. The way I interpret that, it says you’re likely to have a +\- .6 mil shift from barrel to barrel, but could be as much as 1.2mil. I have only tried on a couple but I had just under a .5mil shift with oem tikka barrels, which sort of jives with that.
Are you averaging these, or?

I am going to do the average shift and total shift. Compiling the information later today.

I can confirm my 16” 6 creed barrel shoots 10 shot groups same as these. The 5 shot before cool down would make 15 shots under 1.1”. I am pleased with @hereinaz barrel fit and preferred barrels he is running.
