Gas and inflation impacting your fall?

With 200 dollar barrels of oil now seeming inevitable and inflation only getting worse, I’m curious how this will impact western hunting or out of state hunting in general. I’m already not looking forward to the fuel costs this fall and I’m just a couple hours away from my units...

Yes, I will definitely still go but it will hurt the pocket book a little more than usual! I’d say it will keep a few non residents closer to home this year.

Last year it took 187 gal of diesel for me to get from Pa to Idaho. Good chance it will be around the same this year. Have tags and will be there in Sept....

We put our summer travel camping plan together the first week of January. Since then as the price of fuel goes up we are starting to pull in our horns and adjust our camping plans by reducing the distance of our trips.

Sure glad I did round trip to work 80 miles cost me $1.5-$2 in electricity a day. My pickup at 15mpg is about $26 a day. $40 a month vs $520 will go a long ways in the hunting budget

The only downside of this scenario will be that a few guy who make ~$700 monthly payments on 3 ton trucks that they commute to and from the suburbs with on the daily will attempt to “Trumpslain” global fuel economics to you on a hunting forum.

We live in a rural community where on paper an EV makes sense. Our power is high, but so are fuel costs. Unfortunately our road system is still in its infancy with very little hope for meaningful improvement. I hope there are higher clearance models on the horizon. Several of my community members got on a used Nissan Leaf kick here 4-5 years ago. Most find them inappropriate for the conditions if they are honest about it.

Those guys making those payments on those "3 ton trucks" built your house, your neighbors house and my house. They built the roads and driveways that you use and they landscaped your yard. I guess maybe they can start strapping lumber and drywall on top of a prius in the future. Cause we all know that batteries and electric cars are super cheap and the way of the future. Government will be issuing one to everyone with their free cell phones. Cant wait.

One can guess who funded those contributions. The overwhelming majority of which went to Democrats and $1 million of which went directly to the Biden campaign

Alternative energy industry’s strategic donations come in part because the industry relies on the government, which heavily subsidizes renewable energy production. The industry received an estimated $11.6 billion in tax-related support in 2017. That was just for 2017. Multiply that per year.

The Democrats push to drive up fossil fuel prices and force people into the EV market isn't all about saving the Earth and the reality is we are paying for the development of AE, we pay when we buy it and eventually we will pay taxes on it when we use it. What is going on isn't a complete accident. People have been well paid for the current narrative and I don't see a lot of long term savings when you add subsidies and taxes into the formula. Replacing reliance on OPEC with reliance on China doesn't seem much of a solution to me either. YMMV and for what it is worth, none of the above came from Trump.

Not changing my plans so far...I prefer to drive for my hunts but just booked my tickets for MT spring bear. Under $300 aint to bad for round trip. Currently it would cast me about $800-$1000 at $4 per gal. Have family where I will be hunting so just use a ranch vehicle or quad for the hunt cheap cheap. Plus keep the miles off my vehicle.

Will probably do the same in the fall if I draw my MT tags.
