Mods move this if I’m wrong section.

Bought some of these Wild Society meals off camofire and figured we’d give some of them a review today. I prepared the biscuits and gravy with suggested water amount (1 1/4 cups) and waited 8 minutes (son was hungry and didn’t want to wait 8 minutes or longer but convinced him to do 8). The breakfast skillet was prepared with 1 1/2 cups of water (1 1/4 suggested) and waited 10 then 2 more minutes. I used 1 3/4 cups of water in the fajitas and waited 15 minutes.

Of you use these, I’d recommend more time and more water. The 1 3/4 water and 15 minutes seemed correct.

Water: use more than recommended (1 3/4 is my suggestion)
Time: 15 minutes seemed right but 12 was ok

Flavor:
Biscuits and gravy was just ok. MH and PR is more flavorful IMO, but I also think the time and water amount may have played into the meh flavor. Sausage had a little bit of a kick.

Breakfast skillet was pretty tasty. The potatoes really stood out IMO as did the flavoring. Sausage was a little spicy. Has been my favorite breakfast skillet of all the ones I’ve tried.

Fajitas: water and time seemed correct. Flavor was plentiful but for sure on the spicy side. Spiciest freeze dried meal I’ve ever had. Almost too spicy if you don’t like spicy. 🌶️

I have other flavors to try that I’ve yet to sample but one can only handle so many freeze dried meals at a time.

I’d buy the breakfast skillet again and it would go into my hunting/putdoor trip rotation, but not the biscuit and gravy until I get the water ratio correct.

The pasta primavera was the worst pasta freeze dried meal I ever have had. Chicken Alfredo was average. I liked peak refuel Alfredo better. I have definitely heard great things about the Penne Alla vodka though.

It’s very hard to beat Peak Refuel’s Beef Stroganoff. I usually don’t even like stroganoff as an actual dish, but it’s somehow like the perfect formula for a freeze dried, re-hydrated meal. I’ve tried tons of different ones, and nothing compares. My favorite breakfast is Peak’s biscuits n Gravy, but I’d still rate it several notches below the stroganoff. This is not a plug for Peak either. I’ve had several of their meals that I could barely choke down.

I've tried a handful of WS meals. For the most part they are pretty good. Decent protein and calorie content (less salty than other brands) for the active high output mountain hunter. The Penne Alla Vodka is very good. I find that because "taste" is a personal thing one may want to try a variety of their meals prior to the hunting season and see which ones one prefers. I'm mostly a Peak Refuel guy but I'll be mixing things up next season with some WS meals. General observation, I find that breakfast dehydrated meals (with the exception of granola type meals) are terrible and either taste like cardboard or "too heavy" to digest early in the morning (ex., biscuits and gravy). For breakfast, I just bring my own pre-packaged instant oatmeal or porridge.
