Wider fixed blades

I'm sure they're out there but does anyone know of high quality steel fixed heads that are coming in at a 1.25" + diameter? I like the idea of these new heads with great steel but in my opinion, a wider cut will balance the penetration and the blood trail better. In the mountains, if you don't have a good blood trail, a grid search is so incredibly difficult so I tend to believe in a bigger hole spilling more blood.

I do not have experience with them... Snyder had mentioned the grizzly stick but they are stainless and have giant vents.

I think the kudu point 125grn is about 1.25 and the 150’s even more

Abowyer has them. The Bonehead is wide. Very rugged heads.

These look pretty legit. Are you still using them or did you switch to something else? I've been using the Bone Broadheads because they are apocalypse-proof but they are super narrow.

I've been using the VPA head for two years now and like them. They are tough, easy to sharpen and they fly well for me. Good broadhead.

I've had good blood trails with them, elk and deer. I'll qualify that by saying I think it is more dependent on where you hit them rather than what you hit them with.

These look pretty legit. Are you still using them or did you switch to something else? I've been using the Bone Broadheads because they are apocalypse-proof but they are super narrow.

I was using them pre shoulder surgery out of my recurve. I had surgery about a year ago and had to go back to a compound for a while. I did buy some 100's to try.

I usually kept those and Simmons interceptors in my quiver. I killed a few deer with cutthroats, but was never very impressed with the blood trails. The Simmons we're impressive.

Magnus black hornet ser razor. I had the same thought as you this year. After taking two with iron wills I switched to these and took one more before the season ended. It performed very well. They also have a lifetime warranty like the iron wills but are priced so they are actually affordable.

Magnus makes a great broadhead.

How heavy of a head do you shoot? German Kinetics are making their XXL heads in 175gr on up. 1 7/8 wide. They're still the sharpest heads I've ever used. They also make 1 1/2 wide heads in 125gr. Expensive at about $85/3 but you'll never question the head.

Yep....they do.

The one thing you notice about tapered cut on contact heads like these in 2 and 3 blade, they typically cut a hole that's pretty close to the BH's width. They don't compress the hide, stretch it...and cut a bigger hole like some of the short chisel heads and others. But then those short heads put a lot of blade pushing on dulling hide....sometimes thats a factor.

Probably a good idea to go with a wider 2 bl. head with this design. I've shot the VPA and Magnus 2 blades and they don't get you a big hole...but then the advantage is there is almost always 2 of them.
