WIDE FEET, SORE FEET ANYONE?!

Wide toes, narrow heel and medium arch. Biggest issue is I’m a 12.5wide in regular shoes but with boots it seems that past a 10.5 there’s very little selection for me. European sizing seems to get longer with minimal width increases. US sizing seems more natural to my foot shape but most boots are made on the European scale.

Not Fred Flintstone wide, but I have flat duck feet. Zero (literally) arch, narrow heel, and between 2E-3E width at the ball of my foot. 99% of boots either fit my heel and put my pinky toe to sleep, or if I get them wide enough to fit my forefoot my heel slips and lifts. Closest hunting boot to fit me is the Crispi Lapponia with their wider forefoot, but they still put my pinky toes to sleep on long days.

Boot shopping sucks haha

Good to see you guys here. Boots, to me, are more important in getting right than guns or backpacks - none of that stuff matters if you can't get where you need to go. And custom has some great advantages.

So I'm willing to put in good money for good gear.

I see you charge $150 for custom measurements as part of building a custom boot. No problem with that.

And I see your off-the-shelf Mountain Hunters are $512. For good gear, still not a problem, at all.

But what would a rough price-range be for a custom set of Mountain Hunters, in a 9W range, probably close to a super-wide last? I understand it's a bit different for each set of specifics, but what would a fair price range be to expect, low to high?

Other than fitting right I find most footbeds are too hard. Yes they need to not break down and flatten out under heavy use but feeling like a hardwood floor to start is bad. More cushioning for the toes, getting into nasty terrain my toes get tired if not sore. In general some kind of progressive rate cushioning similar to my daily worn trail runners.

Do you guys still sell other brand boots like you used to? Recently checked your site and all I saw was your proprietary line.

I’d also like to know how your custom boots ordering works. From what I can tell, they aren’t made to order so could you please describe the customization process?

Worth the money for those of us with unusual feet. 9.5 4E here, high arch and narrow heel. The folks at Lathrop and Sons did fine work setting me up. No more blisters or toenails falling off.

Now, I just need to get an elk or a moose within bow range.

There can be many things causing your boot selection problem.. The biggest from what you are saying might be the last selection. If the boot last isn't close to the shape of your foot then your going to have an issue like what you are describing. The guys have developed several different last to fit those harder to fit feet and one might work for you real well. I would give the guys a call. It doesn't cost a thing to have a phone conversation and they probably will be able to understand more of the reason why this happens.

Best of luck to you!!!

I can tell you that you most certainly are dealing with Biomechanical issues with your feet and this is the reason why you are having the issues with your pinky toes.

I'm happy to go over this more for you but I need some additional Information... Please give us a call and ask for James, I'm happy to explain more... Thanks

This is a good question. The mapping kit is the starting point to a CBS. A completed CBS can be in the ball park of 900.00- 1400.00 Depending on the boot that is utilized for the CBS. There are times when Rush service must be done and that just adds to the cost.

It is important know that to have additional systems developed you don't have the same cost; the homework has already been paid. This means, other packages can be developed at a significantly reduced rate.

This is really just the touch of a CBS. I would contact the office so we can better understand your needs to give you a more accurate Pricing.

Thanks

Yes!! We still sell other brands... We sell other brands because there isn't a boot that works for every foot out there. We pride ourselves on trying to have something for everyone...

If you need something other than a L&S boot, please call us and we can do our best to get the right boot and have it fitting your feet great!!

We use the 3D mapping kit to select the correct type of foundation for each foot as well as make a custom orthotic to fit the foot and boot properly.. By doing this we are able to reduce or eliminate most boot fitting issues. Many times we have to use special tools to alter the shape of the boot so that it fits and functions properly. The process is documented for later use, preparing other packages. The process normally takes several weeks to perform properly...

If you think you might need something like this, I would encourage you to call the office to discuss this with one of the guys...

curious as I was looking at your site this morning actually!
what is the flex rating on your hunters and hunter elite boots?

I've been using the kennetrek ever step orthopedic mountain extreme for the last couple years and there on their last legs. I to have fairly thin heels and then widen out at the toes and usually get hot spots on my pinky toe. it also doesn't help I blew up 1 heel and have some plates and screws in it.

Good question!!! You're definitely on the higher end of the flex rating, however you are going to have a much easier performance factor from the boots heel height and toe off value.

I'm going to send you A DM.
