Why you should wear eyes and ears

Shooting the 1911 today to see if I shoot it better than my G19. Honestly about the same. However this is why you should wear eyes and ears. Hot brass bounced back between my glasses and ear muffs. Second degree burn. Danced like the River Dance guy trying to get it out.

I worked with a one-eyed guy who wouldn’t wear eye protection at work and would just close his good eye in dangerous situations. lol

true the glasses pinned the brass against my cheek. However, I don’t know what the damage would have been had it hit my eyeball and I doubt that my reflexes are fast enough to prevent it from happening. I would get better eye protection but these are scripts.

I’ve always had eye concerns as my dad lost right eye to cataract when he was 9. He had a glass eye and would pop it out at dinner a place it either on your mash potatoes or in your ice water.

My grandfather had one that he would put in a jewelry (ring) box overnight. I'll never forget opening that box one morning when I was about six.

Had a friend nearly blow his face reloading a few years back. We always wear eyes now.

Ouch! Had a suppressor blow up 20" from my face last fall. Had on glasses but no ear protection. Didn't get injured but it sure scared the hell out of me. Will forever wear glasses and ear protection now. Also learned that it's a good idea to have your shot spotter stand behind you and not to your side.

Definitely wear your eye protection. Two years ago while out hog hunting my buddy was standing to my right. One of my brass ejected out and hit him right on the lower eye lid. Scorched his eyelid and cheek. Luckily no damage to his actual eye. It was a wake up call and we both wear eye protection every time we hunt together now.
