New Tikka 7mm PRC Lite

maybe i missed it, but did you try without the can? maybe the mount or whatever is dragging down your accuracy.

Any updates on the Tikka 7mm prc? Thinking about ordering a super lite with plans for a future stock upgrade. I really like the roughtech but like the shorter barrel of the superlite better and plan to put a suppressor on it eventually. I know it's pretty light for the big caliber but my scope weighs 34 oz and I figure the replacement stock will be a little heavier than factory. Just looking for latest reviews

They have a 22" 5/8" threaded version available right now. Tikka JRTXB37122MT stainless 22" 7prc

They tested that same rifle - caliber combo on Backfire TV (youtube) and had the same results. He is a huge Tikka fan (as am I) and he always raves about the Tikka lite and superlite but he was quiet disappointed with the 7mmPRC. I don't buy the whole large caliber and lite rifle theory as I have a Tikka T3 in 7mm mag as does my brother , and my nephew has the 300 win mag in the T3x lite and they all shoot lights out.
I've been very interested in this as well and he talks quite a bit about 7 PRC in light rifles having accuracy issues overall...

I will repeat what others have said, many folks seem to have issues with the Hornady 7PRC ammo. Best to try something else.

Just an update on the Tikka T3X 7mm PRC. I put the gun in a KRG Bravo chassis and that seemed to clean up the groups a little bit. Ultimately, I was able to start getting groups just shy of one moa at 100 yards. The gun definitely liked the Hornady 160 CX the most. I was never able to get even close to 1/2 moa groups. Suppressor, muzzle brake or no muzzle device didn’t appear to alter group size much.

I finally fixed the gun…by getting a Tikka T3X 20 inch 6.5CM Roughtech and throwing it in a XLR Element 4.0 Magnesium chassis. Yes, all 6.5CM jokes are welcomed!
I am back to having the standard Tikka experience with .3 to .4 moa groups and 1.2 moa 10 shot groups with factory ammo. The gun shoots great and gets me ethical velocities to ranges I’m ok hunting. I am very much interested in the bimetal BlackArc Ammunition 6.5CM ammo that is advertised at 2700-2800 fps out of a 20 inch barrel. Now it’s a waiting game for when they’re in stock. An Airlock Industries 6.5 suppressor is on order and will be added to the build.

The 7mm PRC is tabled for now. I may take another swing at it later in 2026 to see if I can get better results.

Hate youre having issues as I have been wanting a 7prc tikka which is why google brought me here. Kind of related but not my 308 roughtech grouped like ass when I first got it but after re-torquing the action screws it cleaned it up. Still shoots like ass but better ass.
