Why the hunting picture?

Not sure why they had to use a picture of him with a dead deer. Are they trying to show him as a killer?

I'll be optimistic and say that maybe the intent wasn't to damage the image of the hunting community, it was probably the only pic they could find of that kid that showed him with a firearm...

so when NBC covered the story a few weeks ago about the kid who ran through his school slashing with a knife,did they put up a picture of him carving last halloweens pumpkin?
running that pic with that story is totally irresponsible,and completely transparent.

I never said it wasn't irresponsible, I'm just not paranoid enough to think that everything is a blatant attempt to take away my right to hunt, especially considering the magnitude of this situation. I really doubt that the media's first reaction to this story was to say "hey, this kid is a psycho, let's see how we can spin this story to take away hunting privileges".

There are other news outlets using a pic of him playing guitar. The hunting pic is off his Facebook account so they should have had access to other pics.
