I highlighted a section for you to check out from their site...

I'm sure the design is for them to be perfect dialing, as is every scope design out there, from a $40 Bushnell to a $5k whatever. No manufacturer is going to say "well this one may not dial correctly". What differs is the quality of the craftsmanship, quality control, manufacturing tolerances, consistency of materials, etc. I think what most are saying is that dollar for dollar the SWFA 3-9 has more emphasis on those variables I listed than some others in the same price range.

Someone a couple weeks ago was claiming that lightweight scope was meant to dial. I suppose you could dial anything, but it didn't make sense to me. If they intended you to spin turrets with it they would put one on the scope.

I'm not that complicated. I did the math on my 3-9, field verified those numbers, wrote them on a piece of paper, and then taped it to my stock. It dials out to 600 and back to 100 the same way every time. It may be .023 MOA off, but I will never know.

I’m confused why the 2.5-10 is getting brought up. All I care about in that scope in holding zero. Are you really going to unscrew the caps and try to dial distance in the field??? Get it zeroed and forget about it. Tracking accuracy doesn’t matter like it does on their other models meant to be dialed.

I don’t mean any offense with this post btw... just in case anyone gets their feelings hurt and decides to be an internet baby.

Absolutely I was planning on dialing with that scope. Aftermarket turrets work great on a scope that dials reliably.

Good thread, we got a guy with a 3-9 that has some tracking error, except he's actually talking about the 2.5-10 ul.
Now we got got somebody that doesn't dial that thinks the 3-9 is too heavy.

I dont like the 3-9 super chicken- I only bow hunt. Hopefully that's helpful to someone.

It was a lightweight 2.5-10 SS variant that was going onto my .17WSM. Adjustments were .25 MOA... 1 MOA at 300 feet is 1.047" meaning the scope adjusts 0.261" inches with every click of the turret.

Thanks for the clarification. I initially thought you were talking about the SWFA 3-9 HD.

I also have one of the 2.5-10 Ultralights. I have not used it much yet. Prior to purchase, I had read “on the internet” that it was not intended to be a dialing scope. So, while I do plan on seeing how it dials out to about 400 yards, I didn’t buy it for that purpose. If you wind up finding a good dialing scope in the SWFA Ultralight weight-class, I would sure like to hear about it.

BTW - you have me interested in getting more info on the Meopta.

I came so darn close to buying that scope when it was on sale. Had it in the cart 2x but never could commit. Went with a 40mm Leupy wide duplex instead and I'm VERY happy with that scope.

that dude tests scopes and other gear for the special forces or something, he’s legit.

@mxgsfmdpx and he shots somewhere around 75,000 rounds a year. What @Formidilosus says is usually rather accurate and not from qty 1 scope, 3 shot groups at 100 nor anything less that 500? Rounds down range before forming a opinion. Not sure what his profession is, but his feedback is very credible/valid.

case in point, search his meopta review to see he put that scope through before forming a opinion

Have a link to his Meopta review? I’d like to read that.

Totally. I heard that he even unlocked the Counter UAV. That dude is operator AF :ROFLMAO:

I’ve read @Formidilosus claim to test and evaluate scopes professionally. However he remains to provide any credential at all other than “I work at a unique facility”. Sorry but “I have a special set of skills” doesn’t count as proof, LOL. If you want to claim that your an authority, better provide a name, face, and qualifications to that pink avatar. I’ll hold my breath...mainly to avoid the hepa-ghona-herp-sars that’s going around, haha.

Further, when pressed about testing protocols he listed “throwing, dragging, beating, and loaning out equipment “ as his ‘standards’. No honest professional uses that terminology let alone those physical actions to properly test anything.....ever. It is funny though, I’ll give him that.

If you want to believe he’s a Force Recon SEAL that earned a beret and volunteers as a PJ on weekends.....or something, that’s cool
. But those 3-9 super snipers tho👌🤪

Whatever you say.....whatevvvvvver you say.

I'm going to stick to what I always do and ignore internet mouth breathers like yourself. Have a nice day.

You took a civil conversation about hunting scopes to insults and calling people liars, that isn't constructive and has no value.

Yeah Form's bruised a few egos. I don't think it's true, but I dont care if he's never fired a round and he's the greatest googler and compiler of information to ever log on to a hunting forum. The information is dead nutz and he's contributed far more (exponentially so) than those who get butthurt because they have differing opinions.

I admit I don’t have several $2000 scopes. Just checked, and I don’t even have one 😲

The SWFA 3-9 fits what I have budgeted for a scope. Also, since I am kind of a wimp, it is about at the top end of the weight I want on my hunting rifle. I further have to factor in that even 9x is probably overkill for my shooting ability. But, it lets me have fun at a relatively long range on sticks and on rocks and on pine cones. And then, I can dial it back to my 200 yard zero and be confident it will be on.

So, if your tastes (or budget) run towards Tikkas and Howas and factory Remington 700s rather than Coopers and Proofs and Gunwerks, and you think you might want to try dialing, I would not hesitate recommending a SWFA 3-9 HD. And, I would wait for the sale which should be in less than a month.

I've had a few, I foolishly sold my last one in search of the next best thing but I'll probably buy another during their next sale. Mine always dialed well I'm just not 100% sold on FFP, I couldnt do much with that reticle while zoomed out so I'm switching the scope on my main rifle to something with SFP.

I doubt they are part of the sale as they have been backordered since November, some people who bought on Black Friday have still not gotten theirs.

^^^^ yea I'm starting to look at other options now (especially with the gun scare going on) for before fall. I could use a couple more for existing rifles and they just don't seeem to have a timeline for restocking. The Optika 6 has my attention. I also haven't heard whether or not Crimson Trace's line of scopes are worth looking at.
