Why so many NL Pures for sale?

Is it my imagination, or does it seem awfully soon for people to be unloading the "holy grail" binoculars (NL Pures)?

Hunting season is over for most, and regret for having so much $ sunk into binos sets in. Not gonna lie, I bit the bullet on 8x32's a month ago and it still crosses my mind, as amazing as they are.

mine aren't going anywhere. i do agree, season is over, or just guilt for spending the money.

another possibility is unrealistic expectations.... they aren't WAY better than EL's, some may have expected them to be with the associated hype, but all of the great glass pre pures is still just as good, and any incremental improvement is a big deal in the alpha glass world... it just can't get that much better

the ergos are very unique too, some may not care for that

Wife’s found out how much they cost! My 12x NL and my 65 HD ATM is all I need for my western hunting!

Owning them for a season and then selling them at a slight loss to put the money into something else isn't uncommon at all. It's a great way to pick up some great glass at some cost savings to the second owner.

It is quite curious isn’t it. Yes, there‘s been a plethora of them for sale for the past few months.

My personal take is - the NL Pure was the most heavily marketed binocular in history. Every magazine had full-page ads, commercials on hunting shows, hunting celebrity endorsements, countless YouTube exalted reviews, every BB Pro gave glowing reviews. So, it’s easy to see why so many folks felt compelled to buy one; and the dealers I spoke to said they couldn’t keep up with demand.

But like with all things, some buyers obviously felt the increase in specs didn’t translate to the expected kick in field performance, others might not like the handling or finicky eye position (heard this complaint a bit), and for others it just isn’t quite the shiny penny it was 6 months ago and they are selling while demand and rate of return are high.

It all puzzles me a bit, as when I truly like an optic I usually keep and use it quite a few years.

Does SONA or dealers offer staffing plans? It’s a good way to get product to the market where some use, test, review and potentially resale? This may allow purchase at 20-30% off then resale at no loss.

I think most of us can agree that the SLC is a beautiful, fantastic view. The EL's added edge clarity. That perfect crisp edge. The NLs? I'm not really sure I can say. I do like that the NLs made used EL's a few hundred dollars cheaper, but other than that...shoulder shrug.

Non RF Binos are at the top of their mountain. I can't think of much else that can be done with a fixed power 8x or 10x binocular.

I think that's right.

I also see a lot of Razor UHD's for sale. Would have thought folks would keep those after spending that kind of coin, esp. with the hit from low resale. Oh well.

They increased fov by 20% and made a much more stable binocular for handheld use.

Seems more people than ever circulate gear, probably due to the ease of selling now vs 10 years ago (Rokslide classifieds, FB MP, etc). My uneducated guess

Also agree. I've always been a fan of top end optics but I'm questioning is it worth having ~$3K around your neck or are those older EL's just fine? I love the NL's but yeah I'm asking myself that question.
