Why does everyone chop their barrels to an even number length?

And here I thought I had to decide on only one of two options (18" vs 20"), splitting the difference never even crossed my mind. Thanks to this thread I'm seriously considering 19" for my 7-08ai build.

To be fair, until recently all Tikka barrels were metric so 22.4" and 24.4" were the norm.

For me, if I am going custom or chopping I will mostly go with an odd number. I have two 21" barrels, a 19" barrel, three 17" barrels and quite a few 13" and 15" handgun barrels.
