Why does everyone chop their barrels to an even number length?

I bobbed a 300WM to 21 3/8 while living in AK (and dropped it into a Bansner)... Does that count?

21" 7PRC I determine length based on ballistics and how it will carry with suppressor/folding stock/on pack hiking in, etc.

I think the most vocal guys make it seem more prevalent than it is. Much like many rifle parts.

For me I will never own another rifle with a barrel over 18 inches as soon as I buy one it goes to Kampfield to get cut

it’s the same reason radio stations always end in an odd number. I think it’s something to do with the molecular structure of the sine wave :ROFLMAO:

Dont tell anyone their made-anywhere-other-than-USA barrel is actually 60cm (23.6”) or 55cm (21.6cm).

Lots of talk about guys chopping them to 16", 18", 20" etc...

My question is, why not chop it to 19" in that example? I never see talk about barrels cut to an odd length?

Women chop to odd numbers. Just look at Lorena Bobbitt. She took off half, leaving him at quite a odd number.

So you know what John Bobbitt was packing to make it an odd number? That's a lil disturbing in it's own right! 🤣

Probably people thinking in terms of symmetry. Like we have even number of legs, arms, eyes, ears; etc. I have a barrel that is 20.5" and it works great.

I have a 6.5 Creedmoor barrel coming from Criterion, that will be 21.65354 inches if they do it like I told them, exactly. Do i get a prize for the most decimal points in this game? hahahaha

My plan is to cut as little off my barrel as I can get away with. Knowing which suppressor I'm going with and cutting down the minimum amount to keep the overall length the same. Not wanting to give up too much speed.

I've been following along on a bunch of threads about guys chopping barrels down on their rifles (Tikka 6CM and other threads).

Lots of talk about guys chopping them to 16", 18", 20" etc...

Plenty of guys who are undecided and trying to decide between chopping it to 18" or 20", for example.

I'm showing my novice-ness here, as I've never had a barrel cut down on one of my rifles. Always just hunted with them as they came off the shelf. However, I'll be buying a Tikka 6CM once I can get my hands on one, and plan to chop the barrel down to a shorter length, and suppress it.

I just want to make sure the bullets aren't going to bounce off of animals if my barrel is an odd length🙂
Ill cut my X Bolt down to 17 13/16 just for you.
