I should say I’ve been really impressed with the suspension. I also went with larger 32.4” K02’s and the ride is plenty soft. And with the airbags my ass won’t sag even with a dead elk and a dirt bike hanging off the hitch mount.

My '02 Ram 2500 with 24v 5.9L has 519,000 on original motor- transmission replaced at ~318,000.

My 06 Dodge turned 500k March 30 then went for a two thousand mile trip to Prudhoe Bay , got home Sunday. I had the head off at 480k and have never had the pan off, trans was rebuilt at 321k.

I know several 7.3 Ford Diesels with over 500k miles on them still running strong. My one buddy bought his new in 1999. It has 640k miles on it original everything, drives it 60 miles round trip every day to work.

98 Cummins went just under 650,000 before I sold it for more then I paid originally. 1 fuel pump swap. 13 deleted F350 is at 280,000 and runs like a top.

Never keep them that long, high 100s is as far as I go.
I pay off whatever I buy and might hold onto it for a year or two after and then sell or trade.
My last F150, 2013 model, loved the truck. I traded with I think 160 on it for a 2021 Ranger Tremor. Got real close to what I was wanting.

At what point do you high mileage guys not feel comfortable going on long trips with these vehicles? Just kind of curious because around here, a vehicle almost never makes it that long due to salted roads. Pretty interesting to see how long they'll last with proper maintenance.

I think if I got stranded, depending on the issue, I’d reconsider.

But, plenty “new” vehicles will leave you stranded too. I think the only time I can recall actually being stranded was in a 2 year old BMW. Battery all of a sudden shit the bed. Mechanic asked if we had been struck by lightning (no).

I gauge the health of my older (12valve and 7.3psd) on how they start cold and oil pressure.

Rods that just decided to snap are one in a zillion. Usually it happens from excessive clearance due to bearing wipe. If they start cold, hold oil pressure and dont have stupid blowby.....I have no reason not to trust it.

The powerstroke causes me more concern with the fact that it relys on wires to run. The cummins could literally run with zero wires connected to anything on the engine.

A car or truck that you put that many miles on you know well before what might go wrong and typically travel prepared.

A brand new car can break down without any warning and you wont be prepared for it.

Sold my '98 LX at 266k, still running strong. Intended to keep it until 500, but needed more room. Started the clock over at 110k on my Tundra. So I'll check back in in 15 years or so...

263K on my 04 4Runner w/ 4.7 V8. Absolutely speechless that a car can have this many miles and everything works with minimal maintenance. No leaks, no strange sounds, all the switches and lights work. Would be hard pressed to buy anything other than a Toyota in the future.

I put 280k on a Nissan Titan. The interior looked like sh$t but it ran strong with nothing but routine maintenance. The day I traded it in, I would not have hesitated to drive it cross country.
I’m now in a 2021 4Runner that I plan to drive for the next 10 or more years or until I can’t buy gas for it LOL

Saw a late 90s pontiac sunbird here recently that had 520k on it. If that pos could last that long, it is just further proof that people get tired of vehicles before the vehicles are tired.

I just sold that ‘99 with just north of 470k.





Recently got one of my 2000 LXs back from my daughter. It is now my daily driver with 396k. Also have a ‘96 LX with 503k miles.
