Close call with freezer

So I'm doing some stuff in my shop, and open the fridge to get a beer. I notice it's warm...

"That's weird..."

"OH CRAP, THERE'S 2 DEER AND AN ANTELOPE IN THE FREZER!"

Everything was half frozen or more... It took some jenga, but we got it all in the kitchen freezer, and deep freeze in the garage.

It was a close call!

I should look into alarms... And lottery tickets.

My friend went out of town for awhile and had some gals watch his house/feed his dog for him. They unplugged his freezer because they needed a plug for something…and forgot to plug it back in. Thousands and thousands of dollars of exotic meats from his hunting trips were lost

Had the same thing happen this weekend. Noticed the temp was off just before the alarm was triggered. Some decent deals right now on freezers with the 4th, so was able to get it replaced for a reasonable price. Haven’t been so lucky before in the past and man it’s a bad feeling.

Get a YoLink wifi alarm.
YoLink are great. I have them in all my freezers and incubators too, all managed in the app and alarms on my phone. Years ago we left for a trip and I grabbed some ice from our kitchen freezer, didn't close the door all the way and I guess the freezer eventually detected it and shut itself off. We lost everything in that freezer, not letting that happen ever again.

Had some folks unplug mine a couple weeks ago.
Unplugged for 3-4 days but luckily only ruined the fruit.
Had a spring bear an elk and a deer or 2. Got lucky👍

Same thing happened to me last year. Meat was still half frozen. Got an alarm after that.

We lost all of our meat in a freezer a couple weeks ago from someone unplugging it. I too bought an alarm and put a sensor in every freezer we own. Very cheap insurance and hard to believe it took a failure for me to recognise the need for an alarm.
