Who’s got the best set up to keep a quartered elk cool?

Sometimes, but not always. Moose have been quarters.

I recently purchased a large chest freezer for this exact use. I have a temp controller to be able to keep it well regulated at just above freezing. It will be in my camper at base camp and on an inverter.

What I haven’t sorted out yet is some sort of spacer system to allow some air between the quarters.

I haven’t used the setup yet.

Anyone every convert a up right freezer? Looking at this one.

Also wondering if just normal chest freezer is the better route to go and easier? I would think the upright would get better air flow around the quarters.

I figure a moose quarter would be 50”-54” tall hopefully all 4 quarters would fit in something like that?

I just got back from a pronghorn hunt where it was hot, where they also do a lot of elk hunting. They had a 25’ chest freezer running on a generator. I wouldn’t go with a upright freeze due to how do you hang quarters? A 15-16’ chest freezer would be about perfect for individual use.
