Who uses an ice axe and what would you recommend?

I am just curious who out there uses an ice axe when hunting the mountains, specifically ones that can extend and function as a walking stick too. Any insight and photos of them in the field would be great!

While I haven't hunted with mine yet, I use my Black Diamond Raven all winter long. The head fits in my hand more comfortably than the Petzls and it's light as hell. I've played with the ski pole/ ice axe combo Petzl makes and was less than impressed. The twist lock system kept slipping and would never tighten up for me. The axe was way too small to instill any confidence that I would be able to self arrest (the whole reason for an ice axe). That and it's uncomfortable to hold by the head when walking. An alternative would be the Black Diamond Whippet. Those things are awesome!!
